| Jul-06-09 | | JonDSouzaEva: Well lets not mince words here - it was our good friend ED TRICE who was trying to sell copies of "My 61 Memorable Games" at the World Open. Edward Labate has e-mails from Bill Goichberg confirming this. |
| Jul-06-09 | | whiskeyrebel: Good for Goichberg. I'm glad he didn't allow his tournament to be stunk up by overpriced boots. |
| Jul-06-09 | | Jim Bartle: I wonder if you got an invoice when you bought a book. |

 | | chancho: <Jim Bartle: I wonder if you got an invoice when you bought a book.> If it's of the charmin variety perhaps. |

| Jul-06-09 | | MageOfMaple: So, if anyone should find an invoice,
DON'T SQUEEZE IT! |

| Jul-07-09 | | sharro: someone recently posted a youtube video of Ed Trice selling this book at the world open. Why was that post removed? |
| Jul-07-09 | | robmtchl: Edward Labate gave me permission to post this email: ===
Hello Rob,
As you know, I no longer post publicly, but you are more than welcomed to make public any emails I send to you. This is my understanding of what transpired on Saturday, directly from Greg Yanez, the bookseller at the World Open, since I wasn’t there personally. Ed Trice was caught trying to sell copies of 'My 61 Memorable Games' at a table down the hall from the booksellers area at the World Open in Philly. When the bookseller, Greg Yanez of Chess4Less and the London Chess Centre found out that Trice had accused the Chess4Less bookstore of stocking and selling the fraudulent 'My 61 Memorable Games' on chessgames.com for upwards of $300, he immediately sought out Mr. Bill Goichberg. Mr. Goichberg and Greg, approached Trice to verify that in fact, the Ed Trice from the chessgames.com blog, and the man sitting in front of them with a stack of 'My 61 Memorable Games' were in fact the same person. After Trice acknowledged that he was in fact the same person, Greg Yanez demanded to know why Trice had posted a clearly obvious false and defaming statement, accusing the Chess4Less bookstore of stocking and selling the fraudulent 'My 61 Memorable Games'. Trice offered to remove the post, if only he could borrow Greg's computer. By this point, Greg was fuming and asked Mr. Goichberg what could be done. Mr. Goichberg informed Trice that he wasn't allowed to set up and sell at the tournament. Trice demanded to see an 'exclusivity' contract saying he couldn't. At this point Mr. Goichberg informed Trice that not only did he not have to show him a contract, he could have security remove him from the hotel, and banned from returning. Trice then put the stack of 'My 61 Memorable Games' below the table, and out of sight, and then proceeded in a feeble attempt to save face by playing skittles for while. Trice was not seen back at the tournament on Sunday. Greg did mention that Trice seemed unstable, and appeared to actually want to fight! Trice literally came from around the table and that at one point, Greg and Trice were almost nose to nose. Greg has also agreed to send me an email with further details of what actions Chess4Less is considering for the defamatory libel on the chessgames.com website (I’ve already mentioned how poorly the sight is actually monitored, and that Daniel Freeman appears to be the most loyal man money can buy!). Needless to say, I pointed out to Greg to ‘Get In Line’! Best Wishes!

 | | M61MG Wrestler: <////////NOTE TO KIBITZERS\\\\\\\> A message appeared on this forum on July 1 2009 falsely announcing the sale of M61MG at the bookstore at the US Open in Philadelphia. That message has been removed to avoid the appearance of condoning an illegal action. <> |
| Jul-07-09 | | Ed Trice: It was the World Open. Can't even get simple facts straight. |
| Jul-07-09 | | Jim Bartle: It's pretty clear from that video you were selling 61s at the World Open. Are you going to deny that? |
| Jul-07-09 | | Ed Trice: So let me get this straight, Rob Mitchell said that Eddie Labate said that Bill Goichberg said after Greg Yanez got him? Rob wasn't there.
Eddie Labate wasn't there.
And Greg Yanez was NOT the person who first spoke to me from the bookstore. It was some other guy who was Gata-Kamsky-ish looking. Demanded to see a contract? Not even close. The first guy offered to show me his contract with Bill Goichberg, and my response was "OK." The rest is not even close. I guess that's what happens when you get your information fourth-hand. |

 | | chancho: Either Trice has a magnet stuck up his butt that attracts that book, or he's one unlucky dude.
The book is mentioned on Ebay, Trice mentioned it before everyone else on chessgames.com. He accuses Labate of being the perpetrator of a scam book, but then he later says Bobby Fischer wrote it. He's at the World Open with a damned book under his arm, but what the hell, it's not what you think, it's Ed Trice after all.
What a crock of ****! |
| Jul-07-09 | | Jim Bartle: "The rest is not even close. I guess that's what happens when you get your information fourth-hand." So why don't you tell us what happened first-hand? Directly, clearly, without running around in circles. No clouds of smoke and mirrors. All I see is Ed Trice with some 61s, trying to sell them. |

 | | chancho: <the first guy offered to show me his contract with Bill Goichberg, and my response was "OK."> Jeez, the bs is simply beyond comedic. Why on Earth would someone from a bookstore go to the trouble of offering to show the great Trice a contract the person has with Bill Goichberg? To what purpose? |
| Jul-07-09 | | Jim Bartle: Milo Minderbinder! Exactly. Bought eggs at 6 cents, sold them at 5 cents, and made 2 cents profit. |
| Jul-07-09 | | JonDSouzaEva: To summarise.
First Trice claims that the bookseller at the World Open is selling copies of M61MG for $300:
http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b... Then he claims that he bought the last two copies.
Then he's caught on video (and seen by several witnesses) selling M61MG himself for $200 each! I think Trice must be the love child of Milo Minderbinder. (Sorry Jim, I deleted my message to fix a typo and now your comment on my message appears before the message itself!) |
| Jul-07-09 | | Jim Bartle: Sort of like Milo himself. |
| Jul-07-09 | | sharro: Ed Trice, why not try telling the truth for once. |
| Jul-07-09 | | MageOfMaple: Because of the basement full of books he needs to unload. |
| Jul-07-09 | | stock puppet: <M61MG Wrestler: US Open> <Ed Trice: It was the World Open. Can't even get simple facts straight.> Now I'm really confused because this guy <pinnedpiece> never makes mistakes and yet we've been led to believe he's running this page. think someone's trying to put something over on us? Yes, I just joined chessgames today but that should have no bearing on this post. ;) |
| Jul-07-09 | | Jim Bartle: Then I congratulate you for getting up to speed on the personalities on this page so quickly! |
| Jul-07-09 | | PinnedPiece: <JB> HA! Well that's the last of him. It amazes me that <ET> continues to dig himself in deeper and deeper...I really believe the description in the letter from Labate who says (this is third hand) that <Ed Trice> seemed unstable. <Ed> you have got to take sober stock of this situation, and get yourself under control. About sock puppets: It is certainly annoying to discover that you've been had, and the worst kind of fraud has been perpetrated: a hoax is using a proxy of himself to convince you he is telling the truth. That is apparently what has happened with the account <hackmate> and it is eye-opening for sure to reread all his posts with the certain knowledge that it is <ET>. I was thinking that perhaps CG.com could be convinced to do a kibitzer-account merge like RedHot Pawn (?) did, shown by <chancho> in ♗80 above. Maybe someone would like to suggest another entry to this blogger: http://theoccasionalceo.blogspot.co... . |
| Jul-07-09 | | JonDSouzaEva: I don't really understand why the owner of this forum decided to delete Trice's message about seeing copies of M61MG for sale at the World Open, but fortunately Trice saw fit to post the lie in another forum: The Kibitzer's Café |
