 | | moronovich: Everyone is wellcome to participate and enjoy !
Seems like life also is filled with duties and obligations, but let us not forget it also is a kind of gift, present which is to be explored.. |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Everyone: Thank you for the welcome you have given me here today. |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | pulsar: Funny two posts. :)
Hi, <moronovich>. Just dropping to say it's a good thing that you have your own forum open now. Regards. |
|
Aug-19-10
 | | moronovich: Thanks <Everyone> and <pulsar> ! Regards to you too
<pulsar> I see you are working with chessbooks..What a delight when I go back in time... For further understanding and improvement I , when I look back,I will say,as beaty is in the eye of the beholder, that the strenght of the book mainly was in me.In the respect, that "the more glue on my chair, the more I learned" ;)
E.g. one time I studied a kortcnoigame were he in a rookending played the natural Rd6.I just sat on the chair, pondering about 2 hours before figuring out the ideas (not THE idea !).And the they dawned and dawned. All my litteraly sitting payed off..And since then I have seen many Rd6 moves with simular points ;) |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: Hallo <moronovich> and good luck with your money! I have to admit I have no clue it it is real money or not!? For the moment I have to take some energy and put it in my body (and in to the cat too). Nice forum you have (and smoke free too :)! Thanks for the invite! See you when I have more free time! |
|
Aug-19-10
 | | moronovich: <Magnusch> Thanks for the droppingby. No it is not real money.Only something simulated from <CG´s> ;) You are allways welcome and I hope you get your energy !(and the cat too;) |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: <moronovich> Thanks! Well I've got some energy but not enough before the nightmares (looking forward to some really death scearing dreams - after all, they are for free!). Many people pay money for watching such stuff on television. Sometimes I feel I am as good as Alfred Hitchcock! And I make my story/movie instantly and sub concious!). I'm sure my english wasn't perfect here, but it proves I'm not artificial.. |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: Ok, it's time for an interesting problem. I saw this nearly 20 years ago. Here we go.. White to move and win..
click for larger viewIt's a little thing more to say here.. White is NOT allowed to move his king! So the question is.. Is it possible to win anyway? (Computers are allowed in this problem..) |
|
Aug-19-10
 | | moronovich: <Magnusch> Your english is perfectly fine for me! Have you heard about the senoipeople who lives, or lived in Malysia? They are known for not having the same kind of the worries we have here in the "civilised" west. Also due to their way of using their dream as a kind of balancer.
From early childhood the kids learn how to contact what they meat in dreams, instead of fighting it.(as we,generally, are used to here in e.g.Europe).Something which can be trained.
I know it is easier said than done, but the first mover is to realise and then starting to explore.
Contact and starting to let faith grow could do as the keywords. "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".
S.Freud ;)
All the best. |

Aug-19-10
 | | moronovich: I dont see any matingpattern in the above problem-but perhaps I will take a closer look sometime.
Interesting idea,anyway.
Well if the black king could be chased to the eight rank..so...!
I guess there is mate in 39 moves.. approximately. |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: <...the senoipeople who lives, or lived in Malysia.> Have never heard about them. Sounds interesting. I don't give so much for our western culture (and way to think and more). Yeah, the Field of Dreams are very interesting. In my youth I was very interested in to learn to take control in a dream.. (yes girls! he he). I believe it should be possible in theory, and in some future even in practise. Seems reasonable that a lot of excersices is needed. My own experience suggests that <dream control> can be possible when you're not sleeping too deep. One has to be near to wake up, somewhere between sleeping and be awake. So one can realise that one is dreaming and take control. Yeeehaaa! But I have never being succesful more than maybe a few seconds.. In one dream I was aware that I was dreaming. So I tryied to fly up in the room.. I jumped up in the air and used my arm like I was swimming.. I could "swim" to a higher point in my room.. it was funny! I remember something about jumping out from the window.. (maybe it was in another dream and I can't remember really doing it). Well.. one has to be sure of being in the dream state before jumping out of the window, lol! |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: <moronovich> The first moves aren't critical. To save your time I can say it is possible but not very easy. As you can guess, there is a good idea to force the black king to the eight rank (or h-file). And to stop him to go into a white corner. After that, there is a nice combination which force the black king to step in to the Great Shadow of the white king. Then it will pass over the line from our world to <the world of nightmares>.. Have a nice Evening! |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: Well, I'm comming back here later this evening. See you then perhaps. Have a nice! |
|
Aug-19-10
 | | moronovich: Thanks <Magnusch> A nice Evening to you too ! So the matingsquare is h8/g8 !?.
Tonight I will watch my favorurite "Montalbano", while my wife is doing time with some friends. |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | Magnusch: <moronovich> E8 or H5 is enough (if one doesn't want to torture the poor king..). |
|
| Aug-19-10 | | malthrope: I can clearly see you need just a little help already. :) <moronovich: Thanks <Magnusch> A nice Evening to you too !
So the matingsquare is h8/g8 !?.>
Re: <Magnusch: Ok, it's time for an interesting problem. I saw this nearly 20 years ago. Here we go..
White to move and win..
click for larger viewIt's a little thing more to say here.. White is NOT allowed to move his king! So the question is.. Is it possible to win anyway? (Computers are allowed in this problem..)> So, it's time to think anew about all this...
<So the matingsquare is h8/g8 !?.> The key being in order to get to those squares the Black King would have to pass via a route of » <Ke8> » <Kf8> » <<Kg8>> or » <Kh5> » <Kh6> » <Kh7> » <<Kh8/g8>>. Your new 'target squares' to totally fixate on are ♔ standing on <'e8'> or <'h5'> first? Now you only have to concentrate on how you're going to force the Black King to move to either one of those squares first without moving your King! ~lol~ In addition, can you force the defending King to either square or is only one or the other possible? I know - questions-questions-QUESTIONS! :P Caught the Chess problem bug early as a teenager (12-13 years of age) and have been solving those and much more complex and devilish ones for the last 50 years! :D A very hearty Congrats to you <moronovich> on the opening day of your chessforum. :)) May you have much fun and enjoy this new experience to the max.... I certainly did. <*grin*> All the Best,
Your friend, - Mal |

Aug-19-10
 | | moronovich: Thanks a lot <Mal> !
I am enjoying already and you are, as always, wellcome to drop by. Time passes slowly, here at the prairie.. |
|
| Aug-20-10 | | rogge: Yor own forum, at last. Congratulations :)
Rosenborg beat FCK, hehe. But I hope FCK wins the second leg, otherwise Rosenborg will be financially unbeatable and pick up all the best domestic players. We don't want to see that happen ;) See you around! |
|
Aug-20-10
 | | moronovich: <rogge> Thank you ! Better late than never ;)
And perhaps Rosenborg is a better team!?And an interesting clash with the IMO 2 most interesting norwegian trainers.60-40 to Rosenborg for qualifying.
And I see what you emphasize about 1 club being too superior to the others.
Which is not a nice developement to witness...
See you around too & all the best for the upcomming weekend!
And one more question,Sir : About the name to my forum;what do you think sounds best :"Prairie Wind & Pints unleft or Prairie Wind & Unleft Pints"
!? |
|
| Aug-20-10 | | rogge: Well, in my case it would have to be <Prairie Wind & Pints Consumed> ;) |
|
| Aug-20-10 | | malthrope: <moronovich: Thanks a lot <Mal> ! I am enjoying already and you are, as always, wellcome to drop by.> Hehehe... :) I was so happy when discovering your new ~chessforum~ entry had popped into the <CG.com> world. :) After I'd posted noting: <Magnusch: <moronovich> E8 or H5 is enough (if one doesn't want to torture the poor king..).> new posting arrival while I was busy constructing. Thought it best to just leave everything in place and intact here anyway. As, I simply added to the explanation of "why?" which is essential when understanding the art of solutions to clever Chess problems such as this one. :)) <Time passes slowly, here at the prairie..> This got me to thinking about the special headlines we choose to display for our beloved chessforums... In your case, <"Prairie Winds & Unleft Pints"> Immediately started me looking for various ways to rhyme 'Prairie Winds' with things like 'Unplugged Pins!' ~lol~ Then after that unique occurrence thought how nice it would be if only for a day to play a little prank twice a year on April 1st (April Fools Day) and Halloween (last day in October). Where anything goes! ~lol~ Looks like I won't have to wait very long as 'Halloween' is first up and it's right around the corner! o_O Your use of "Unleft Pints" brought on a slur of parched activity... After looking up "Unleft" and not finding it (for a brief moment in time quickly looked over at my 'Compact Edition of the OED' the 2 volume set) then thought your intent was a meaning such as "Undrunk" (meaning: 'not swallowed') to be the key in play here. :P I'll leave you with this parting thought...

May his writings be etched to thither within our hearts & minds forever for all to enjoy! :^) My Best Always, - Mal
PS: I'm sure you have already surmised from yesterday, <"Hi´<Mal> you are up early today !?">, in your post in the <Bookie>'s c-forum. I had to be up early, so I wouldn't miss Naka's crushing victory over van Wely and post this incrediable diagram with comment (on page 17 the 'Rising Stars vs Experience' [2010] tourney link): ______________________________________
<Naka-van Wely, Rd #7...

I can already see, taste and smell the afterburners firing after that powerful blast. ~lol~ Looks like a short day for Loek and a sweet night for Naka! <*grin*>> ______________________________________
That was all she wrote (17. Rb6 1-0) producing a picturesque minature finished in just 17 moves! :XD |

| Aug-20-10 | | MrMelad: Hi moronovich, congrats on the new forum and have good day :) |
|
Aug-20-10
 | | moronovich: <MrMelad> Thanks for your nice words ! And you are allways welcome to stop by...
You should also know that I appreciate your kibitzing around CG ...
And I wish you a good day as well-and why not the entire weekend ;) Go Rosenborg. |

Aug-20-10
 | | moronovich: Well, well, well my old buddie <Mal> is in the house again !
Yeah Naka molested v.Wely yesterday.Good to see the poisined pawnvariation also works for white.
And not bad to have placed 1.5K on the right player.I felt assured he would go all in..and then it was only to follow. So you wonder about "..Unleft Pints" hmmm..my idea was to make a hybrid of Neill Young and Bagdad Cafe (roughly spoken, off course;) - but if people don get it ? unleft pints = should be pints which definately are consumed. But is it understandable <Mal> !?
Otherwise I could go with rogges Pints Consumed.
See you around the corners and close to the bulls eye.
And a good weekend to you. |
|
| Aug-20-10 | | malthrope: <moronovich: Well, well, well my old buddie <Mal> is in the house again ! > Hahaha! Well, I had all these interesting random thoughts running quickly through my brain and thought to share them with you! :P <Yeah Naka molested v.Wely yesterday.> Goodness yes - a massacre on the chessboard! ~lol~ ;) <And not bad to have placed 1.5K on the right player.I felt assured he would go all in..and then it was only to follow.> Yeah, I saw that too (you had the luxury to place that $1,500 bet). Anyhoo, <Switch> has now joined me in my quest for setting things right in the <ChessBookie> game. Making it crystal clear to the Admin's just how unfair it is not to pay the bets off in accordance with the settlement dates on time. Under the present set of conditions it's not a game anymore -- it's at best a half-hazard attempt at a betting game with no rules or conditions. I don't think either <Switch> or I are going let this one be <"swept under the rug"> this time like it usually is... 'nuff said. <So you wonder about "..Unleft Pints" hmmm..my idea was to make a hybrid of Neill Young and Bagdad Cafe (roughly spoken, off course;)> Cool the 'Bagdad Cafe' a cult film classic (one of my favorites, btw, and the soundtrack is simply superb) and Neil Young -- an absolute musical legend! <*grin*> <unleft pints = should be pints which definately are consumed. But is it understandable <Mal> !? Otherwise I could go with rogges Pints Consumed.> Ah yes, by this definition (as I could not find a dictionary reference to it even in the OED of 'unleft') now it begins to finally make sense. :)) <See you around the corners and close to the bulls eye. And a good weekend to you.> That you will indeed! :^)
All the Best, - Mal |
