| Oct-18-16 | | virginmind: Hi!
Life should be allright. Cold&rainy here but otherwise fine. Hopefully your wife is well. I was losing a lot of chessgames lately, but I guess worse things happened at sea :)Haven't tried that mix you're recommending, all I know is Ibuprofen had no effect on headache whatsoever when I did try it some 10 years ago, and ever since I don't want to hear about it anymore - as long as I have my trusty Panadol Extra at hand. The trip to Onesti/Bacau went well, although it was on a sad ocasion - a funeral for a cousin of my wife. Next weekend we gonna go again to Onesti, this time to take my wife to Slanic Moldova - a nearby mountain resort, where she will stay for a week with her aunt. Oh and I was joking about the standing ovations regarding my paper presentation at that symposium. it was well received but they didn't go that far in enthusiasm. I think there was even a critical voice trying to say something but he eventually changed his mind, I guess. Good bye and serene thoughts. |

 | | moronovich: Yes,Life is still beautiful. The octobersun is shining and the colours of the leaves are magnificient. No need to go to New England this year ;) Yes,I knew you were not literally when you said standing ovations. But Kramnik experienced it this summer after a breathtaking game were he sacrificed the whole box... Wife is making steady progress and we are still enjoying this almost little extra vacation. But on monday she starts slowly up on her job.Which she is confidentally looking forward to. Dont worry if you are loosing more frequently this period.Your strenght will come back, perhaps even improved.
Most likely."Sometimes you win , sometimes you learn" as an old saying goes. It would be nice if you could come here and watch the match on norwegian televison !....but geography ): So let me wish you a very inspiring trip to Slanic Moldova. And then som time on your own !? Had the most inspiring trip to town monday.Where I met a lot of people and somehow the all opened up and we had a great time. The last I met were huge fans of Manchester United AND Magnus Carlsen.Per and Bjarke.2 nice young lads from Norway.Who were ready with popcorn the 11th of November. See you around and all the best ! |
|
| Oct-21-16 | | virginmind: Hi. We won't go to Slanic anymore, because of reasons pertaining to my wife's job. And you were right, I began to win again over the net. Here's the latest - I usually am not good in Sicilian but this one I got it right, somehow. Or I just got lucky?
An excellent weekend to both of you.

 | | moronovich: Nice game with a classic welltimed sacrifice on h7.Nice to see you are back again...with good play "luck" seems to follow. And a good weekend to you too and hopefully it is ok that plans got changed. Wife is stil progressing and on monday she will try to start out with 4-5hours on her job.Go wife !! Rain all day today.Real autumweather.
That is fine,in its own way.
See you around ! |
|
| Oct-25-16 | | virginmind: Thanks, yesterday I won 5-6 games in a row, it didn't happen since quite some time. Of course, the last one I lost and so I got nervous and stopped :) Great to hear your wife is getting closer to being completely healed, did she went to job yet?
Sheer autumn weather here too, very Novemberish. Can't say I'm fond of it, as you know hehe...but I guess it's on the liking of others I know, like an old friend of mine here. It's rather OK that plans have changed, because with the cold&wet weather a week in the mountains wouldn't have been the greatest experience, especially for my wife's aunt, who is 82. So you're getting the Norwegian television broadcasting the big match there, cool. Not a chance for me to get to Denmark in time to watch it, but I'm sure one of the chess sites will relay the games, for the enjoyment of us all. Oh, and the news being that lately I decreased Karjakin's chances to 18%. A mesmerizing week ahead! |
|
Oct-26-16
 | | moronovich: Good evening !
Have just been through your 2 remaining games. In the first one from the 4th of Oct.I liked the way you mobilized all your pieces for the attack,as well as you had to take some blows yourself. Those knights on f4 were monsters.(I once had a simular position against IM Mortensen, the Danish champ, and sice that time I guess I never allowed such knight again.Especially with h3 included). The other game(with 4 Ng5) was impressive. And highly tactical were you took advance of the weak king and again calling all your forces to the battlefield. This was,BTW, one of Larsens favourit sayings:"And now we can conclude that the whole army is participating in the attack !".So thank you for sharing ! 18% Karjakin is very very close to the Danish bookies estimation, and mine as well,as you already know.On russian soil I would say 25-28%... Had an awfull headache yesterday, but somehow(proudly) mananged to get rid of it during the night. So today is a little nirvanish ;) And now for cooking.Corn, falafel, bulgur tomato. Not bad,not bad.It sounds healthy, doesn´t it !? Take care and see you around. |
|
| Oct-28-16 | | virginmind: Thank you for taking your time to replay my games and for the words of appreciation, especially when coming from someone rated 2300+ they of course brought a smile to my face. I'm sorry to read about that headache, so you still have no clue about what might provoke them? Probably a mixture of causes, just like in my case or in most cases...but you never know. Looked a bit over yesterday's blitz match between Carlsen and Nakamura, but stopped following as puzzled by the format they've chosen. Anyway the result - I found out this morning - was as expected. The food you're preparing does sound healthy indeed, and I too try to keep my diet as natural as possible since quite some time, maybe 20 years, no 'junk food' to be found on my list :) Not that it had a tremendous impact on my health, but it did help on some instances and this was enough motivation to continue. There is a planned weekend trip to Onesti for tomorrow, but it remains to be seen if both of us will go or I will stay at home. On this temporary undecision, I let you plan your own weekend endeavours. Keep in touch. |
|
| Oct-28-16 | | virginmind: What do you think of the last article on Chessbase News, regarding the Hoogeveen controversy? |
|
Oct-28-16
 | | moronovich: It is late here so just a few words. Thanks for stopping by and I am glad I could go through your games and just go on if you like.Wifes hand is improving and that is just plain good !! JWH has returned from USA and had the best time in many years !! Very glad and he really deserves to feel the wind in hi sails. And my headcahe is not nearly so hard as it was months ago.Probably duly to skipping soda light and my new bed. Saw the blitz match yesterday and it felt telling how almost scary fresh Magnus looked(Somewhere in the Caribian;).Karjakin must find his absolute A game if he shall stand a chance. Hope you will make the right decission about Onesti, and hope I will see JWH tomorrow at our first choice"Tier Na Nog",the irish pub. So once again a week has gone by and I send you all the best wishes for the upcomming weekend ! p.s.:haven´t read the the chessbase article yet. Good night.God nat. |
|
| Nov-03-16 | | virginmind: Hi, everything's fine here and I have some more job related work to do these weeks. We've been to Onesti and spent the weekend there with our relatives. I'm glad your wife's hand condition is improving and I wish you both all the very best! See you around and let's not forget a big chess event is getting closer. |
|
Nov-04-16
 | | moronovich: Hi´ again !
Less than one week to the great match. And perhaps I have some good news as I think the games start at 1900 here which should translate to 2000 in Romania. One hour earlier than I thought ! And yes thanks, wifes hand is still progressing which is very very good. But I miss her cooking ):,;)It is a bit tiresome to be the chef all the time, but I am glad to be helpfull to her,off course. Had a good time wednesday with a couple of friends in town.Very juvenating. And in the deep conversation and a pint in the body I almost forget my dizziness... Weather is so and so and a short glimpse at the calender shows Christmas is approaching. So annother week has passed quickly, though the single day goes kind of slowly.Time is a very special energy IMHO.Once again I wish you a splendid weekend with all the best and fortunate wind in your sails. See you around and let us enjoy ! |

Nov-09-16
 | | moronovich: Good evening and good night!
How are you doing ? Long time not spoken,or at least that is how it feels. All is fine here, besides from the result from USA ):):):):):
Have had 5 successive days with good sleep and everýthing in the right place for my old body ! 2 days in town with friends, almost like being 40 again ;)
And now rejuvenated,I hope, for some New York action, minus the presidental race.Hope I am right about the starting time...The norwegian coverage should be first class as mentoned earlier. We have had some snow here and it is slightly colder.A fine pretaste from the winter.I like it,as you probably know ;) Wifes hand is ok and in one weeks time she will go and see a physiotherapist about her progress and e.g. what excercises she should do for further improvement. So all is well and I hope the same for you and to meet you up the road. Cheers ! |
|
| Nov-10-16 | | virginmind: Hi <moronovich> I was around but I was pretty much working for my job. I did part of it and still have some stuff, looks like for some 2 months from now on I'll have to dedicate more time in that direction. Sorry for not showing up for a longer period.
It's great that your wife is definitely getting better. And also bravo for getting those 5 succesive days in good spirits with good night sleeps and an encouraging state of your body. There was no sign of snow here as yet, but we are expecting some in the next days. As about the American elections, yeah, who could have expectaed this result? they didn't see it coming either, apparently. But probably life will go on (almost) as usual, hopefully, and maybe in another 4 years they'll vote more carefully. So tomorrow we have something big starting up...:) It remains to be seen if there will be free video relay%commentary. As about chances, they remained pretty much the same, with a further very small increase on the part of Carlsen. We will have to wait and see if my feeling, yours and a vast majority of other will turn true. But it will be a pleasant wait, exciting even :)
I have to check if the first round starts tomorrow, or it will be just the official opening and other events, as it sometimes happen. Good night. |
|
Nov-10-16
 | | moronovich: Hi´!
Good to hear from you again. And you sound like a busy man !? <So tomorrow we have something big starting up...:)> Oh yeah,we certainly do :)Around 15.ooo hours, since last match. And it shall be very interesting to see if Karjakin will put up some real resistance.I doubt it,but hope so.With the right winner in the end ;) Tomorrow should be the real thing. And(not as I thought the other day)starting from 20/21 DK/Romania as I have understood on the program from the norwegian televison.....unfortunately I can only take NRK1 and not NRK2 who have the broadcastingrights ): So perhaps biting the sour apple and pay the 15 dollars. Will post soon again, but the bed is waiting.
Take care and enjoy-the match and otherwise. And hopefully you will find a good flow with your work. Good night. |
|
| Nov-11-16 | | virginmind: Yeah, they start at 9pm here...a bit nervous about that. I hate staying late at night, other than the random once in a while.
Yup got some work to do and hopefully I will manage to get it done in due time, thanks.
Still no clue if we will get the free video relay. Then again, it's the moves that matter first :) Stay tuned... |
|
Nov-11-16
 | | moronovich: <Then again, it's the moves that matter first :)> You must be right. But OTOH if the players weren´t there they couldn´t make the moves ;)
(Sorry, couldn´t resist. Will try to be nice the rest of the day!?) We stay tuned... |
|
| Nov-11-16 | | virginmind: Sure, but we get the moves anyway (free), it's only that we can't see them playing for free :) Although, <waustad> posted in the game window here a Norwegian link which will relay the video today. |
|
Nov-11-16
 | | moronovich: Thanks a lot !! I have seen the link. And now we must see. Just phoned the Danish bookmakers and succeeded to convince then that the starting time is 20.00 and not 11.00 as they thought;) "time passes slowly right up here in the mountains" Dylan |
|
| Nov-12-16 | | virginmind: Have only seen the beginning of yesterday's draw. Today I was at Deleni with family for a memorial.
Yesterday excruciatingly (but deservedly) lost 0-3 against Poland in football.
Oh, and I also got my driving licence suspended this morning(starting in 15 days) for a month, plus 4 points fine, plus 500 lei fine (about 120 euros) - halved if payed in 48 hours. For doubling over continued line.
I guess it's enough for a day...
Hope for an entertaining game tonight in New York. Good night. |
|
Nov-12-16
 | | moronovich: Good evening!
How unlucky can you get in one day ?
Hope you have used your quota for this period... 120 euros is also some money worth counting. Anyway New Yourk is calling.I did bite the sour apple(pun intended;) and payed the 15 dollars. The transmission is ok and Judith is acceptable as commentator.A lot of jokes about the TRUMPpowsky as you already know. But an interesting choice. And Carlsen seems to give Karjakins seconds something to work on.And then hit back in a classic opening,I guess. But I dont think they will bite....tonight gonna be classic,e4-e5 or if a surprise:he may emply the Scandinavian. An honor to our countries ???;) <Hope for an entertaining game tonight in New York.> Yes me too and the samt to you.Hope your broadcasts are fine.Sorry about 0-3,but Poland seems in a class for themselves,at the moment. The danes did´t impress me too much yesterday, despite 4-1. Let us enjoy.Life is good. |
|
| Nov-13-16 | | virginmind: Hi, congratulations for the 4-1 result! Fortunately I am allowed to pay half of that sum in 2 days. Yesterday night followed up to move 17 and then fell asleep, also had some sore eyes. Replayed the two games and what can I say, draws to get the players used to each other and with the atmosphere of the match. As everybody expects, maybe on Monday we will see a decisive encounter. Until then, rain, wind and cold outside. Nothing else much to notice. Have a fine weekend. |
|
Nov-13-16
 | | moronovich: <virginmind: Hi, congratulations for the 4-1 result! Fortunately I am allowed to pay half of that sum in 2 days.> Hi´!
Good your allowed to pay at a rate that fits you better ! And thanks fot the congrats. The result was very fine and now we are 3 teams chasing the play offs.Romania-Denmark comming up next ;)That gonna be fun.Somewhere in March,I think. And not a bad game to oversleep yesterday.2 tight games,so far.Where the most remarkable IMO was that Magnus played 3-a6,going for a real Lopez and at the pressconference he stated that he would prefer to play today instead of having a day off ! Karjakin looked forward to his restday. Not much to say from here, except that the weekend has been smooth and I continue to have longer nightsleeps and that is cery good for (anti)dizziness. Take care so long and let us hope for blazing guns tomorrow ! |
|
| Nov-13-16 | | virginmind: Cold winds blazing all day already with snow and 0 degreees here, not quite the nicest Nov 13 imaginable. I've mostly stayed inside doing nothing, thinking about all sort of insignificant stuff until headache got me. 4 halves of Panadol did the trick and managed to play 4 chess games, of which I won more than half, I believe. Nah, Romania does not deserve to qualify, actually in the past 20 years or so its team obtained nothing remarkable. It's great that you sleep well at night, I myself am doing quite well in this respect. Also no more dizziness in the past 5-6 weeks or more.
Yes, probably Karjakin is satisfied with draws so far, knowing he is the underdog. We will see how things develop when he will have to fight after Carlsen wins a game ;) Thumbs up! |
|
Nov-14-16
 | | moronovich: Good afternoon 1
Has used almost one hour of my life to convince the bookies that it is Carlsen 3,30 Draw 1.45 Karjakin 11.75
and NOT:
Karjakin 11.75 Draw 1.45 Carlsen 3.30
Grrrr...And they dont listen.Oh yeah they listen, nut dont do anything, though they promised to do so.
Otherwise it is a good day and wife soon comming home on this rainy day with relatively high temperatures. And o as in yuorplace with this cold wind.Brrrr again. But striking how often there is not so big difference between our countries. <Also no more dizziness in the past 5-6 weeks or more.> I am ver very glad to hear this !! Keep up the good work. Carlsen has something in store for us tonight. But what ? Any idea ? Take care and let us enjoy.
Aud wiedersehen! |
|
| Nov-15-16 | | virginmind: Hi! Very good game three, they both struggled and offered us a battle worthy of a WC match. But I missed most of it, as fell asleep right after the bishop exchange on g2 and black's f5. Of course replayed the game this morning and read most of the comments here.
Tonight either we will see a tired Karjaking pushing for an early draw, or maybe who knows, he will decide to take advantage of his being white and act more dynamically. I'll try to keep mysef awake a bit more for the fourth encounter. See you around. |
