   Aug-10-25 Jose Carlos Ibarra Jerez

offramp: Great success! < Player of the Day Jose Carlos Ibarra Jerez (1985-) > He has been PotD for 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of August 2025 (so far). Long may it continue!

   Aug-09-25 M Hebden vs S Banerjee, 2025

offramp: Hebden experienced a sad, dispiriting and disheartening loss, to an 11-year old. The game was in a prolonged stasis. [DIAGRAM] 73. e4. The only way to make headway. That led ineluctably to a ♖ + ♙ ending. [DIAGRAM] 78. Rg1. Soon.... [DIAGRAM] 82. Kd2? ...

   Aug-09-25 S Banerjee vs S Wilks, 2023

offramp: I believe that in this position... [DIAGRAM] ...Black has a mate in 3. Always.

   Aug-09-25 Supratit Banerjee (replies)

offramp: He is 11 and playing very well. Hopefully he'll play in the Scottish Olympic team (i.e. chess).

   Aug-09-25 Giri vs Robson, 2025

offramp: This was a humdrum game. There's an interesting interlude: 6...g6 7. Bb5 c6 8. Bd3. Is that theory?

   Aug-09-25 British Championship (2025) (replies)

offramp: GM Stuart Conquest sports an unusual tonsorial combo: shiny smoothness on his crown, then suborbital long grey hair, like a member of <Fairport Convention>. Today, round 8, he is playing <Chivas Regal>.

   Aug-09-25 B Sivanandan vs M Ashworth, 2025 (replies)

offramp: <Cecco> at one point White has 4 pawns, Black has 6 pawns.

   Aug-08-25 D Gukesh vs Duda, 2025

offramp: Duda played a young Indian old Indian. This is round 1. This game was⚡️. [DIAGRAM] 39. Qe3? White won the game at the end. Dommaraju Gukesh only won this one game out of the 6.

Aug-07-25 Chennai Grand Masters (2025) (replies)

offramp: The Indian World Chess Champion Gukesh preferred to play a blitz match with Duda in Katowice. Understandable.

   Aug-07-25 Duda vs D Gukesh, 2025

offramp: White played this game brilliantly. Black had zero chance throughout the game. White played like Petrosian. Poor Gukesh. Pack your bags!

Aug-05-18  thegoodanarchist: <offramp> For longevity:

1. Eat more salmon, sardines, anchovies & greens such as spinach
2. Eat less sugar, fewer grains, and fewer things made from grain flour
3. When eating beef, choose 100% grass fed & finished; avoid grain fed beef
4. Do Weightlifting 3 times a week or more
5. Two eggs per day
6. Walk as often as you can
7. For drinks, choose water with lemon. No sweetened soda!

Aug-05-18  morfishine: <thegoodanarchist> Very good advice for health! I've been incorporating more anchovies and sardines into my diet. Grass fed beef is the only way to go. And I avoid high-fructose corn syrup like the plague. Since I BarBQ a lot, I have to be careful since most sauces are made with high-fructose corn syrup. Only the very best sauces use molasses or brown sugar, and those are the one's I use

Oh, and you are very much on the ball regarding eggs. Its coming out now that eggs aren't that bad regarding cholestrol. Thank goodness I never stopped eating them!

Thanks!

Aug-05-18  zanzibar: <offramp>, projecting a little I think, nonetheless offers up an interesting alternative:

We all are grieving in our own ways, the above is definitely offrampian.

And it is serendipitous that molasses and brown sugar also make the best-tasting BBQ!

Aug-05-18  thegoodanarchist: I haven't had really delicious rotisserie chicken in quite some time.

I miss it and crave it frequently now.

Aug-05-18  morfishine: Dear <offramp> in the event this site collapses, I would like to stay in touch with you. You have been my favorite poster here at <CG>. If you feel inclined, drop your email address in my forum. I would like to stay in contact with you.

My forum is a well protected fortress blocking many unwelcome miscreants, and I will delete the address from my forum

<thegoodanarchist: I haven't had really delicious rotisserie chicken in quite some time. I miss it and crave it frequently now>. Probably because you have spoiled yourself with grass-fed beef "augmented" by wild-caught salmon

Now you simply crave chicken

Happens to me all the time

Who is is charge of this site?, asks one of the nutcases.

I have an answer.

From Cambridge:

<There seems to be an archaic Indo-European custom, according to which the sorrow after the death of the king was expressed in a five-day period of lawlessness (Greek ἀνομία) and <anarchy> (ἀναρχία). In order to avoid the <anarchy>, according to <Dionysius> of Halicarnassus (9.69.1), the Romans invented an interregnum>.

So there is joint leadership between:
User: Dionysius
and
User: Thegoodanarchist.

It makes total sense.

Good luck guys!!

Aug-06-18  thegoodanarchist: <<offramp: Your healthy eating list looks very very good. Many thanks.

In my hands I have the very earliest stages of
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dup...
which my mum also had.>

I'm very sorry to hear of your condition.

<The reason I mention this is that I eat a lot of fish, exactly as you recommend! I always have done.

Is that not totally Viking?>

Yes, almost as much as looting and pillaging!

<BTW, when I have the Dupoytrens finally treated it is done without anaesthetic. The geezer sellotapes your hand to the table and cuts the sinew.>

How horrible sounding. I suppose it's better than amputation, right?

Not speaking of <Dionysius>, just for myself. I don't think this will end well...

offramp: I watched a really good fillum today.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068504/
House of Madness, based on the Edgar Poe short story https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The...

It is about a load of lunatics taking over an asylum.

Aug-07-18  zanzibar: <Offramp> Kibitzer's Café (kibitz #235790)

Maybe it's not that bad, but it does have a little of the mushroom feeling about it.

Of course, it really started out that way - given that his death wasn't shared with us for ~ a week, when it was clear something was wrong.

What was the reason for that?!

Aug-07-18  morfishine: <zanzibar...What was the reason for that?!> I would ask <Stonehenge>. He was leaving cryptic messages during the week that Daniel passed away that he would be posting an update shortly (so apparently he knew but was counseled to hold off announcing anything, I gather). He finally did on 7/30
Aug-07-18  zanzibar: <morfishine> yes, but I suppose <Stonehenge> had promised <Sargon> to allow him to make the announcement.

offramp: <zanzibar: A visit by <offramp> on Rogoff?!

We are blessed.>

It is unusual but I have posted there before.

I was there trying to make sense of a series of posts from <PB> and <M'rk f1n@...>

I was trying to gauge the extent that the lunatics had taken over the asylum.

Aug-07-18  JimNorCal: Interestingly, Stonehenge says he is not a native English speaker yet was asked by Sargon to compose the announcement of DFs death.

Shall we assume that Sargon is a tech guy with imperfect people skills? :) I find myself warming to the guy already!

Aug-07-18  morfishine: <offramp...I was trying to gauge the extent that the lunatics had taken over the asylum> During the Battle of Arnhem in Sept 1944, some stray bombs had struck a local sanatorium right in the middle of the battle. The staff had of course "ske-daddled" long before what with SS Panzer forces stationed nearby and all the fighting going on. The result is dozens if not hundreds of mental patients, wearing only their white hospital gowns, fled the damaged structure into the nearby woods west of Arnhem.

When crack British and Polish paratroopers attempted a night time reinforcement, they encountered numerous patients wearing hospital white gowns roaming throughout the woods.

A truly eerie, if not creepy sight

I don't know why I mention this other than the similarity to the lunatics running the asylum...

Aug-07-18  zanzibar: Somehow the above discussion calls to mind this movie:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060908/

I wonder if it made it to <Daniel>'s list of favorite movies?

Aug-08-18  morfishine: Dear <offramp> I wanted to inform you that this post is my Fifteen-Thousandth (15,000) post at <CG>, so I wanted to dedicate it to you with you being one of the most witty, pointed, outrageously candid, sarcastic, devastatingly humorous, brilliantly funny, and...

Sorry, we have to interrupt this broadcast, President Franklin Roosevelt has declared war on Japan

Aug-08-18  thegoodanarchist: One thing I like about <offramp> is that, to my knowledge, he is the only person still using the term "sellotape", and has 3 pages of posts that include it!

Search Kibitzing

That does not include variants, such as this post:

thegoodanarchist chessforum (kibitz #1022)

<sellotape> is one of those words that was once popular, now is almost exclusively contracted when used. Kind of like <decalcomania>.

Now we just say <tape> or <decal>

Dear Zanzibar, I don't know if you saw it, but that rare post was greeted by a massive stream of abuse!

What a place Rogoff is!

Aug-10-18  morfishine: <offramp> I suggest you do what I do: From 1-2 times per month, drop a post in Rogoff that denegrates the political philosophy that you abhor the most. For example, I have great fun joking about left wing Liberals.

As soon as you post kbitz, skedaddle out of Rogoff at top speed. Do not return until you are ready to post another joke. Do not ever read any replies
