| Aug-13-20 | | technical draw: A very good documentary on the game of Go. Not that I play Go, in fact I have difficulty understanding the rules. But this documentary gives an insight into the world of professional Go. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXu... |
| Aug-14-20 | | Boomie: One of the charms of Go is that there are only 9 rules to learn. This simplicity is deceiving though. There are opening, middle, and end game sections similar to chess but the complexity is of a different order. I don't know how complexity is measured in games but it wouldn't surprise me if Go is more complex than chess. My Go strength when I was playing was about the same as my chess rating, around high A or low Expert level. Shodan in Go talk. |
| Aug-15-20 | | Schwartz: I think chess is more cryptic than Go. For example I found recreating old games made a lot of sense in Go. In the film they commented about winning moves and how calculation legitimizes safe play. Then the real play is in the first eighty stones. Go's origins may be as a teaching recreation and the board may be too square especially since they start with an empty board. So with backgammon as a standard chess can be said to attain certain historical qualities more gracefully than Go. |
| Aug-21-20 | | Schwartz: In Go moves are made to the board, whereas chess is played from the board. And the large board leads to clear moves with a deep impression, a very clear thought. The return on effort smallholder Chinese farmers experience has influence on culture and I have this idea placing a stone is a bit like planting rice. Another game https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fangqi there's a video link under External links, doesn't that bring to mind plant growth after three minutes? What are the purposes Go fulfills and how did it arise? |

 | | WannaBe: I really don't know why people are so in love with Apple's products... https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/23/tech... Way over priced, hard to upgrade, if not impossible, both their computers/laptops/phones/ear buds... No wonder people who are so enamored with Apple are called iSheeps. |
| Aug-26-20 | | thegoodanarchist: I updated my OS in June, from Snow Leopard to El Capitan. It was simple and easy. |
Aug-26-20
 | | WannaBe: <thegoodanarchist> I will say Apple do a good job with Mac OS upgrades. But when it comes iOS for phone and pads, that's a different story, everytime there is an update, battery drain issues, missing pictures, wifi stops working or the mobile device just stops working (bricked). I am still not a fan of Apple. |
| Aug-26-20 | | thegoodanarchist: <WannaBe> I am not trying to convert you! |
| Aug-26-20 | | Keyser Soze: I could be <easily> "converted " by you <tga>. But over here the Apple gadgets is very very expensive..I mean, ridiculous. Could I buy? Yeah..But the cost -benefit didn't beat me yet.. |
| Aug-26-20 | | Keyser Soze: <No wonder people who are so enamored with Apple are called iSheeps.> LOL Look, I know people who works in architecture office, professional photo, and one at music recording..They <all> say iMac is necessary. The softwares are better and runs smoothly, they say... PC at least you should have one. Not sure bout the gadget..But again, I agree, so f. expensive.. |
| Aug-27-20 | | thegoodanarchist: <KS> Yes, Apple products are very expensive. I agree with you about that. Which is why I haven't upgraded my laptop for 10 years. And I never had a PC last even 5 years without a major failure. No way a PC would last 10 years. I paid a little over $2000 for my MacBook Pro in September of 2010 and if I had gotten a PC instead I would have replaced it twice already. So I am saving money ;) |

 | | WannaBe: I don't believe this story, the two (super) computers were in cahoot with each other. "Never trust a computer that you can't throw out of a window" -- Steve Wozniak https://www.yahoo.com/news/humans-c... =))) |
| Aug-31-20 | | technical draw: On all things non-googleble I turn to the human google machine the great <WannaBe>. Here's what I want to know: I saw a movie about a man who had a portable electric chair and he went from town to town executing the condemmed. However he himself was evidentially executed by his own machine. Then some other executioner showed up with a portable gas chamber. Your mission, WannaBe, should you decide to except it, is to name the title of that movie. |
Aug-31-20
 | | WannaBe: <technical draw> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_T... is the only movie that I can find that comes even close to what you described. |
| Aug-31-20 | | technical draw: <WannaBe> That's exactly right! I knew I could count on you and your great googling technique. Also I was trying to remember the main actor and it was Stacy Keach. I owe you $20. |
| Sep-01-20 | | technical draw: You know, <WannaBe>, you can tell a lot about people by how they write. I have analyzed your writing and I can tell you have a strong handshake. In fact your handshake is probably as strong as the mechanic who fixes my Lamborghini. Good show, keep lifting those weights. |

 | | WannaBe: I always thought my writing (style) was a cross between Stephen King and E. Hemingway, with a dash of M. Twain and Ogden Nash thrown in for seasoning... |
| Sep-01-20 | | technical draw: E. Hemingway is Ernesto Hemingway. He writes novelas for Telemundo. M.Twain is Manuel Twain he reports the wrestling results for Alarma! magazine. I don't know the others. |
Sep-02-20
 | | chancho: Stephen King is Esteban Rey, and Jorge Amado is George Beloved. |
| Sep-02-20 | | technical draw: Now I know who Ogden Nash is. His brother has a beautiful mind. |
