Promotion: Bishop
Compiled by Penguincw
--*--

Games where one promotes to the rarest piece to be promoted: a ♗. In order by date.

A bishop promotion is rarely done, since a queen can also move as a bishop. Usually, promotion to a bishop is done to avoid stalemate.

A rook or queen promotion will result in stalemate (bishop would be pinned), while a knight promotion will end in a draw (1...♗c7 would prevent mate just in time). The winning move will be 1.c8=♗. Mate will come after 1...♗c7 (or any bishop move) 2.♘d7 ♗b8 (or any bishop move) 3.♗b7#.
