  Honza Cervenka: Black had troubles with the Knight on the edge, but 27...Nb6 was not good idea. 28...Nxc4 does not help much as after 29.Bxc4 fxe6 30.Bg5 Qd7 (30...Qf7 31.f4 Bg7 32.Qxd6) 31.f4 Bg7 32.f5 gxf5 33.exf5 Bf7 34.fxe6 Bxe6 35.Bxe6+ Qxe6 36.Rxc8+ Rxc8 37.Rxc8+ Qxc8 38.Qd5+ (a useful intervening move) 38...Kh8 39.Qxd6 white has a pawn in an easily won ending.

Telemus: Gelfand and Kapengut gave only sparse analysis. The ending is very interesting and Anand probably missed a drawish (and difficult) line at move 43 (not mentioned by G/K).

Here Anand gave the wrong check. 43.. ♖a2+ is correct. After 44.♔f1 Black can give checks from the 4th rank: 44.. ♖f4+ 45.♔g1 ♖g4+ 46.♔h1 ♖e2 and the engine gives 0.00 in several lines. The disadvantage of 43.. ♖a2+ is that Black has to consider another line, where White moves his king in another direction: 44.♔f3!. Now Black has only one move: 44... ♖ae2. Not too difficult to find, since it threatens a perpetual. 45.c6 is tricky. It takes control over e3 and after 45.. bxc6 White can try 46.♖c4!?

46.. ♖xc4 is forced and after 47.♔xe2 White has managed to keep the pawn e7 alive. 47.. ♖e4+! 48.♗d3+! ♔h5 49.♖d4!

Another difficult moment! According to the engine only 49.. ♖xe3+ 50.♔xe3 ♗xe7 keeps the draw.
