Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-02-05  Averageguy: White loses tempi in the opening and pays the price.
Aug-02-05  paul dorion: Fine game
Mar-07-07  Ulhumbrus: According to Polugaevsky, Bronstein said that White had an extra pawn but Black had more space. Actually Black has more than that because White's development is hampered as well, hampered so badly in fact that Black has too much for the pawn.
Jan-20-08  Everett: A nice shot with 26.Bxe2...

26...Bxe2 27.Nxe2 Rxe2 28.Qd3
26...Rxe2 27.Nf3+ and Nxg5

Mar-17-25  ZonszeinP: As Sosonko puts it,
Bronstein didn't win a major tournament after 51 (almost) But,
The games he could play!

One of the greatest players of all times!

perfidious: What does the fact of Bronstein failing to win a top-level event at that age prove? Even the very greatest players lose a step by their fifties.
Mar-17-25  Petrosianic: <perfidious: What does the fact of Bronstein failing to win a top-level event at that age prove? Even the very greatest players lose a step by their fifties.>

Worse yet, the claim is, arguably, not even true. Bronstein certainly won multiple tournaments after 1971. Whether or not they were "major" is undefined.

Sandomierz Open (1976)

Budapest Tungsram (1977)

Hastings (1975/76)

Jurmala (1978)

Mar-17-25  ZonszeinP: Perhaps it was expected more from him
