Jul-14-03 | | mkdir: look at the final postion....all the peices hiding behind the king :)....great play by ivanchuk... |
Aug-14-03 | | PinkPanther: One of Ivanchuk's best, a true brilliancy. |
Aug-14-03 | | xu fei: Why does Kasparov allow his pawns to be doubled in the opening like that? This type of central structure is very hard to mobilize in the sicilian, they usually become targets, and hamper a normal development. No wonder this variation appears in only two games in the database. |
Oct-25-03 | | Helloween: Everything fell apart after 23.c5! Kasparov put up a tough defense, but Ivanchuk's position after 23.c5 is just too strong and he played the rest of the game beautifully. |
Jan-19-04 | | InspiredByMorphy: Very well played by Ivanchuk. Hard to believe who he's playing . What an attack against the Sicilian, with one of the best in the world playing it! Big respect for Ivanchuk. |
Jan-19-04 | | technical draw: What ever happened to Ivanchuk and Yusupov, The big two that were going to replace Karpov and Kasparov? |
Feb-13-04 | | ughaibu: Great name for the opening, is there something wrong with Sicilian 3.Bb5+? |
Feb-13-04 | | Catfriend: No. It's prety effective, actually. I used to play it against 2..d6. And I know some masters and GMs avoided d6 just for that reason. (I think it's an exaggerated ♗b5+ fear, but it's still pretty good move!) |
Feb-13-04 | | ughaibu: Catfriend: Thanks for that. What I was asking was "is there anything wrong with calling the opening "Sicilian 3.Bb5+"". |
Feb-16-04 | | Kabbyg: The bishop pair was poor! |
Feb-16-04 | | Stavrogin: What happened?
Well, Ivanchuk is still doing well... His time isn“t yet to be summed up.
He has more good chess left in him than many of the top10rated players of today. |
Mar-25-04 | | Benjamin Lau: It looks like severe time trouble in the late middlegame. 7...e5 looks better. 8...h6?! doesn't look quite right. |
Mar-25-04 | | Jim Bartle: This was a first round game, and Kasparov sort of hinted (since nobody ever seems to actually defeat him) that he just didn't have the juices flowing yet... |
Mar-25-04 | | markt: Yes. It is meaningless to make any more moves after 32.Qd8 and especially after 33.f5. |
Mar-28-04 | | acirce: 3. Bb5+ is certainly one of the best "anti-Sicilians". One of the few early White deviations from the main lines that doesn't make Black very happy. |
May-20-04 | | notyetagm: Wow, I've never seen gary wiped out like this before. |
May-20-04 | | csmath: In the first 20 moves Kasparov plays well but then he starts strange manouvres with his queen, probably looking for initiative. In just 4 moves he finds himself on the ropes. Ivanchuk was relentless and by the 30th move Kasparov is already lost. After 32. Qd8 ... Qg6?! he is totally lost but somehow this game continues for another 6 moves. Weird opening by both sides, very appropriate for Ivanchuk. |
Oct-24-04 | | Deji: Thrashing! this Ivanchuk guy is really great. How come I haven't known him all this while. |
Dec-07-04 | | szyymek: and what about with 31th Kasparow's move. He could play Bxb5. It's good idea... |
Jan-21-05 | | GreenDayGuy: 31... BXP
32. QXB and white will get his own passed pawn, or get black's. |
Feb-19-05 | | CeeFoR: Kasparov himself said that Ivanchuk understood the game better than anyone |
Feb-19-05 | | Whitehat1963: Ivanchuk at his best and in his prime. Beautiful and total domination of the best player in the world (if not of all time!)! |
Mar-03-05 | | Lipsome: this is my favorite game ever |
Mar-03-05 | | jtops: The problem with 31... Bxb5 is 32. Qxb5 Rxc8 33. Qd7 and black looses a piece. |
Mar-16-05 | | Mating Net: I love playing over this game and watching Ivanchuk tie Kasparov up in knots. Black's Bishop pair are quite possibly the most useless ever seen on a chessboard. |
