  tpstar: ChessBase 8.0 agrees with 33 ... fxg2 34. Rxg5 instead of the alternate score (33 ... g4 34. Rg5).
Sep-26-24  CharlesSullivan: White has a very clever win at move 20:

20.g4!! (20.Nb5 also leads to a probable win, according to Stockfish) 20...Bg5 21.gxf5!! Bxd2 22.Rxd2 Qg5+ 23.Kf1.

Now, if Black "wins" the rook with 23...Qxd2, then 24.f6 and Black can: (a) give up his queen with either 24...Qxe1+ or 24...Qxf2+; or (b) try 24...Ne3+ 25.Rxe3 Qc1+ 26.Re1 Qxb1 (26...Qh6 27.Qxe6+ Rf7 [27...Kh8 28.Nf7+ Kg8 29.Nxh6+ Kh8 30.Qg8+ Rxg8 31.Nf7#] 28.Nxf7 Bg2+ 29.Kxg2 gxf6 30.Nd8+ Kg7 31.Qf7+ Kh8 32.Qe8+ Kg7 33.Re7#) 27.Qxe6+ Kh8 28.Nxb1+-; or (c) lose quickly with 24...Qh6 25.Qxe6+ Rf7 (25...Kh8 26.Nf7+ Rxf7 27.Qxc8+! Bxc8 28.Re8+ Rf8 29.Rxf8#) 26.Nxf7, etc.

So after 23.Kf1, Black should choose 23...Nac7 24.fxe6 Ba6+ 25.Bd3 Bxd3+ 26.Qxd3 Nxc3 27.e7 Qxe7 28.Ng6 Qf7 29.Ne7+ Kh8 30.Re3 g6 (30...N3d5 31.Qxh7+!! forces mate) 31.bxc3 and White has an extra pawn and a winning position (Stockfish says +3.01).

May-13-25  ewan14: Why not. 14 ... Nxf6. after f6 in the line above ?

Hi, <ewan14>. I surmise that you're a fan of the number 14, but I believe that the move in question was numbered 24. After 20. g4 Bg5 21. gxf5 Bxd2 22. Rxd2 Qg5+ 23. Kf1 Qxd2 24. f6 Nxf6,

White has a forced mate (which I'll post in descriptive notation in lieu of a "hidden" tag): 25. BxP ch. NxB 26. QxP ch. R-B2 27. QxR ch. K-R1 28. N-N6 mate.

May-13-25  ewan14: Many thanks
