  chancho: One word: Zugzwang.
Aug-30-07  laskereshevsky: Play a Budapest Gambit against a player who was born and growed up in Budapest!!!!

How many hundreds Budapest gambit had BENKO played (both Black and White) in his younghood?!

Ragozin,..Ragozin....U MUST BE CRAZY!

Aug-30-07  attica: In actual fact, Paul Benko was not born in Budapest (see his biography).
Aug-30-07  laskereshevsky: <attica> I was just quoting the BENKO's words...

in the book "WINNING WITH CHESS PSYCHOLOGY" (1991 BY Burt Hocheberg and Pal Benko) the same BENKO wrote:..

"Why he (Ragozin) had choiced to play "that" gambit, vs. a player BORN and RAISED UP in the city where that gambit was microscopically analyzed, and proper against me, as i was bring up by bread and Budapest gambit?..."

Maybe BENKO moved from Amiens to Budapest very soon, if even he said "in the city were i was born" refering to Budapest?!...

I have a similar story...i was born in a hospital in a certain city where my parents were for a trip... but, as my parents says me, i moved from there after 10/12 days to my family born town...and too now, when i have to say, or write in same documents for istance, my born town names, sound strange to me say that one, and not the place were i lived in my younghood.....Maybe BENKO had the same feeling?

Aug-30-07  laskereshevsky: BTW in that book this game is dated 1948; and not 1949....

Wich one is the right date?
