On the other hand, at Liège 1930, my will to win – the famous <Siegeswille> for which Lasker and Alekhine have been so highly praised! – at last persisted without weakening until the very end. Even in the final round, and, although not needing more than a half-point to assure myself exclusive possession of first prize, I nevertheless preferred to seek out complications and administer an inexorable defeat to my nearest rival in this tournament, the “mysterious Hindu” Sultan Khan.
