After Bxa7 the game is equal.
The mistake was 27. Be3 instead of going into the repetition. |

Qxf3, which can be answered with 31 Bh6+ Kxh6 32 Qf4+ Qxf4 33 gxf4. Now Black, with 2B+4P vs R+3P, still has work to do, especially in view of the distant passed a-pawn. It should still be a win, but it's by no means automatic. |

Or pick a specific one from the past (preferably at least a year ago), as long as it's the same day of the week. This puzzle was a Wednesday puzzle ("medium/easy", not "very easy" as Monday's are labeled) just last month, January 20. Thirty-three (33) days ago. This runs the risk of scaring away novices, who may think "Wow, if this is 'very easy', maybe chess isn't the right game for me!" |
