  chancho: 29.e6! what a move!
Jan-01-08  mrsaturdaypants: You're right. Black must prevent e6 at all costs. I think 29. Rbe8 might hold. I'm not sure what c6 was designed to accomplish.

  profK: This game needs more airplay...note the gamescore of Fred against Larsen.. and he dosen't make it onto the CG.com shortlist of great GMs in the search list!!!

<English Opening, Icelandic Mating>
Apr-13-18  RageofKlugman: I cam across this as a puzzle of the day on another site and was a bit miffed to get my solution described as 'incorrect'. Am I missing something, or is 30. Qe7 equally decisive?
Apr-13-18  morfishine: <RageofKlugmen> After going thru multiple tries for Black, I agree that <30.Qe7> is equally decisive, winning on the spot, reducing Black to a spite check with the Queen, the spite sacrifice of the Queen followed by a forced mate on the back rank supported by the Bishop covering <h7>

Nice find

Apr-13-18  paul1959: Olafsson was one of the strongest players of the late 50's. He was the great adversary of that other Viking Bent Larsen. In their 25 first games, only 3 were drawn!
