Jun-17-06  Topzilla: Why the hell Svidler didnt resigned 30 moves earlier???

It seems that without blunders, is easy to win in this kind of endgame, Queen vs Rook and pawns.

With best defence, QvR is nontrivial, even for a strong player. If Topalov had been playing white here, I suspect you would have commended his 'fighting spirit'...
Jul-11-15  lalla: I never thought that the position studied by Philidor can occur in real life. the last position is exactly the position studied by him.
Dec-13-16  SEVEN: The final potition (Philidor potition), with reverse colours, came in Anand vs Nakamura, 2016 after white's 86th move

Svidler could have tried a "distance defense" here hiding behind the Black King on the long diagonal:

85 Rb2(!) Qg5+ 86 Kh3 Qg1 87 Ra2

Not so easy to break down.

Aug-16-19  gambitfan: 1) mated-in-7 (19 ply) 95.♖g8 ♕e1+ 96.♔h2 ♕e5+ 97.♔g1 ♕a1+ 98.♔h2 ♕a2+ 99.♔g1 ♕xg8+ 100.♔f1 ♕g2+ 101.♔e1 ♕e2#
Dec-04-20  Martin Rattigan: <gambitfan> Good technique, but 2x table a bit dodgy.
