May-16-03 | | bishop: This is either a super brilliancy or White missed something. Calling on Honza or Crafty. |
May-16-03 | | actual: Black had a tactical feast... |
May-16-03 | | aulero: 11.♘e4 is a very doubtful attempt to simplify the position. 11...♘xe4 is a good shot and (I suppose) a shock for White. I don't figure out how White can save the game after 13.♘e2. I think that he has to try something like 13.♖b1 ♗c3+ 14.♕xc3 ♘xc3 15.♖c1 hoping to quickly complete the development giving back the Queen and some pawns. |

 | | Honza Cervenka: I think it is a super brilliancy even if it would not be winning in all lines. All idea of 11...Nxe4 is simply magnificent and I am glad that courage and creativity of black succeeded in this game. But position is very complicated and I cannot say definitely whether 11...Nxe4 was absolutely correct. I did not analyze it properly but after seeing all the game I would suggest to play 17.Bd6 not allowing the black to mobilize his rook as simply as it was mobilized in the game. I don't know whether it is a sufficient defence for white, but it is certaily better than 17.Bh6. |

Jan-14-05 | | Castle In The Sky: It's a beautiful game. Nevostrujev seems to do very well as black playing the KI against higher rated players. |
Nov-11-05 | | blingice: Someone explain the multiple queen and rook sacs. |
Dec-31-05 | | azaris: A modern masterpiece for sure. A fun finesse is that after 20...Rb1+ everything must be topped off with continuous checks, as White threatens to mate beginning with Qd8+. This game could be used for training by working out all the tactical points without resorting to Fritzing. |
Dec-31-05 | | Timothy Glenn Forney: Check out this one,K Aseev vs V Nevostrujev, 2002 0-1 another amazing game by Nevostrujev with the black pieces. |

Apr-18-07 | | ToTheDeath: Very fine. Fritz prefers the paradoxical 10. Bxf6 Bxf6 11. Ne4 which it asseses as better for White. Beautiful conception by Nevostrujev. |
Aug-28-08 | | ughaibu: Completely ultra far out and a wonderful mating position. I think this game alone has cured my cold. |
Mar-18-09 | | WhiteRook48: 23. Kd2 threatens 24. Qd8+ |
Jul-01-09 | | Egghead: But 23. ... Rd1 is mate. |

 | | GrahamClayton: I like the way that 21...♘e1+ covers the c2 square, as well as the visual effect of putting a piece on the 8th rank! |
Feb-17-11 | | BishopsPawn: I think you could almost get an entire week's worth of puzzles out of this one! What fun! |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: An unbelievably complicated game ... |

Jun-22-12 | | dumbgai: I am currently analyzing this game with Stockfish 2.1.1, which has white up +1.61 after 15...Nc6 (depth=25). 16. Qc7 is the first move Stockfish doesn't like (up until now Riazantsev had been matching the engine's top moves; Stockfish prefers 16. Qb6). 17. Bh6 is the losing move according to the engine, which gives 17. Bd6 Nd3+ 18. Kd1 Bb5 19. Nc1 as leading to a small advantage for white. |
Jun-26-12 | | GilesFarnaby: Exploiting the awkward Bg5 (and, hence, the b2 weakness) Nevostrujev gets a Benko-gambit-like position, with the important difference that white's K-side is underdeveloped and the minor nuisance that black has no Q. I up this game in case someone is foolish enough not to know it, as I did 5 minutes ago. |
Jun-28-12 | | sambo: 13 Rc1 looks much better to me. White loses in the text because he's strangled by his kingside. Rc1 allows Nf3 after Bxc1, so the knight is on Nf3 rather than Ne2, and there is much more space. Still not an ideal position for white, but at first glance it strikes me as more even. |

Jul-18-12 | | himadri: Mighty nights! |

Nov-09-12 | | morfishine: White is better served with <11.Bxf6> |

One can certainly not fault White for being bamboozled here. Beautiful game. |
