Phony Benoni: I see this as a very instructive game. No, not for the sleazy opening trap; that's old hat. Instead, I like it for the way that Ron Finegold clinches the game after springing the trap. Instead of listlessly trading queens and trying to get the knight out of g1, he goes straight for the jugular.
Oct-01-07  MaxxLange: Well, that's also old hat, but you don't find the full sequence in the books. The point of ...Nc6 and ...Bg4 is to get the pieces out with tempo so you can castle and give check.
Jul-02-10  TheaN: Fact is that after a successful Lasker Trap Black's play is extremely easy, starting with Qh4† and the tempo keep rolling in, a piece up. Enough to resign for White after 7....fxg1=N† fafaik.
Jul-02-10  Marmot PFL: I fell into that trap (once), and my opponent almost went nuts. After move 7 he shouted "It's a knight! It's a knight!". Reminded me of that scene in Frankenstein (Its alive! Its alive!)

  FSR: I thought everyone knew about the Lasker Trap. Apparently not. Then again, I know of an expert who fell into the Elephant Trap (1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bg5 Nbd7 5.cxd5 exd5 6.Nxd5?? Nxd5! 7.Bxd8 Bb4+), so I shouldn't be surprised.
Jul-21-17  TPG76: @MarmotPFL: I know your comment is seven years old, but I just saw it - and it gave me a well-needed laugh (still laughing)! BELATED Thanks! :)
