Benzol: This game had an interesting course, see the notes at moves 74, 75 and at the end. It's something you can have a laugh at later but at the time it was probably quiet stressful.

LIFE Master AJ: My goodness!!! Too many adjourments!

I had many games adjourned one or two times, but ... I even had one game that lasted until like three or four o'clock in the morning. (I eventually won, but I was completely exhausted the next day.)

The Bishop ending is extremely engrossing. A funny story, Ray, thanks for sharing it. (Since USCF has done away with adjourments, I tell ten year-old players about "an adjourned game," and they go: "What's that?")

offramp: The notes say, "We had already endured one dispute in this particular match over John Nunn's 'win on time'..."

Nunn vs D Godoy, 1976 would seem to be the game but there is no kibitzing on it; I wonder what happened.

Jan-13-08  juccal: Pedro Donoso was a great chess teacher, a complete generation of Chilean player rose under his lessons, i can mention some names like Ivan Morovic, Javier Campos, Jorge Egger, Luis Rojas, Sebastian Silva and many many others, i remember with admiration his great knowledge about the chess inheritance from the past. He treasured a lot this game with Keene as himself once confessed to me, between other interesting games from that time like Hubner vs Donoso or Donoso vs Najdorf. Chilean chess has never been the same since the death of "Maestro Pedro" as we called him with affection, we have lost our great teacher and master.
