Phony Benoni: That pun puzzled me at first. Having grown up in a less-PC era, I remembered Spanky and Alfalfa and Buckwheat and Darla and Sparky and all the rest. But neither Teimour not Gawain rang a bell.

Then I saw the game was played in an Under-10 tournament. OK...

HeMateMe: <Benoni> nails it--I started the game thinking the pun referred to a big pawn wave (little rascals), something like that. The game was played 15 years ago. Radjabove was but a toddler (though still better than most of us at chess).
Sep-28-12  JohnBoy: Radja was born in Mar 87. The probability is >.75 that he was over 10 at the time of this game. Jones should lodge a complaint.
Sep-28-12  NewLine: So much for a black domination this week...
Sep-28-12  The HeavenSmile: I've always thought the double fianchetto to be a weak opening for either side, especially white as its generally played quite early giving black plently of time to defend appropriately
Sep-28-12  shakman: Impressive game played by U10!
Sep-28-12  kevin86: Black will be mated,soonest
Sep-28-12  The Last Straw: This opening actually normally converts into an endgame quickly.

  LoveThatJoker: Terrific finish!

LTJ

Sep-28-12  vkwow: <JohnBoy> at the World youth, the requirement is you can't have turned 10 before the start of the year.(Jan 1) So, Radjabov was eligible, as he was born in March.
Sep-29-12  Abdel Irada: I had to double-check the score to make sure White wasn't named Galahad.
Dec-11-13  TheTamale: Damnit, this 9-year old closes the game with a move that wouldn't occur to me in 1,000 years.
Oct-18-16  lentil: why not 18. Nf5.
Oct-28-16  whiteshark: <lentil: why not 18. Nf5?> How would you proceed then after <18...gxf5 19.Bxf5 Ng6>?
