May-21-06  bgkuzzy: svidler-kamsky 1/2, and topa with a good chace of winning the tournament.
May-21-06  Dionyseus: Topalov is playing extremely accurate, he has been able to escape draw tricks several times the past ten moves. For example if he had played 37.g4?? Bacrot can draw with h3! Rh6 h2 Bc3 Rh7
May-21-06  bgkuzzy: how is topalov's elo going to change after he wins this tournament?
May-21-06  chessbond: what a comeback for Topo....true world champion like!! Wow!!
May-21-06  bgkuzzy: time for bacrot to resign. its getting really hopeless for him now.
May-21-06  bgkuzzy: 1:0, and topa wind the tournement!!!! CONGRATS TO TOPA!!
May-21-06  Dionyseus: Bacrot has resigned. Viva Topalov! Viva Topalov!
May-21-06  percyblakeney: Fourth win in a row for Topalov and another amazing performance by the best player in the world!
May-21-06  Necessary Truths: I thought 38. ... Bxb4 would've given Bacrot better drawing chances; 38. ... Be7 just wastes time. It's still a big advantage for Topa, but...
May-21-06  bgkuzzy: i didnt feel this proud to be bulgarian even after the 1994 soccer summer!!!! VIVA TOPALOV! what a special player he is!
May-21-06  alexandrovm: < Dionyseus: Bacrot has resigned. Viva Topalov! Viva Topalov!> really? What a great performance by the bulgarian player. The position was hopeless for black anyhow, white plus two pawns, and the threat of mate and further exchanges made him win this game in a convincing game. Congrats Topa.

If Anand wins too, both youngsters will finish in the cellar of this tournament...

May-21-06  bgkuzzy: how many elo points is topalov going to get for the won tournament? pls someone.
May-21-06  knightpower: wow topolov rocks .. and is a true worldchampion .. in the correctest spirit of the game ...
May-21-06  alexandrovm: <bgkuzzy: how many elo points is topalov going to get for the won tournament? pls someone. ...> I would guess that at least 5 points...
May-21-06  Zenko Gavazov: Topalov's elo: 2813
May-21-06  madlydeeply: Topa's 24th move is unbelievable. Shows utter contempt for Bacrot's ability. Utterly denudes his king opening up center files. The last time I saw such a nonchalant king was in this game:

T Drezga vs Spielmann, 1934

but Spielmann stuck a bishop in front of his king at least. I know it is all theoretical and justified and what not but I'm sure e4 was a humiliating move for Bacrot to look at...

May-21-06  Svrakata: Now all my admiration to Topalov for his brilliant tournament ending!!! 4 wins in a row is really something...

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Two pawn islands for Topalov, four for Bacrot. This gave Topalov's Rooks a big head start in pawn munching, and the Black Rooks never could catch up.
May-21-06  euripides: Obviously they decided the old Sofia rules weren't tough enough. So now they've banned castling.

Thought experiment: show this game to the previous world champions, all the way back to Steinitz. What would they have made of it ?

May-21-06  MeatGrinder: Topalov to Bacrot - http://www.mtelmasters06.com/upload... - "Sorry buddy, no draw today."
May-22-06  FHBradley: This question has probably been asked already: but what is the point of playing Topalov's own line against him? Kamsky tried it with little success, and so did Bacrot.
