Jan-27-08  benjinathan: This is how I know that, despite all my efforts I still suck at chess: to me this looks like a comfortable win for MC now.

An Englishman: Good Morning: I hope everyone's enjoying their Sundays. Just checked in now, and offhand, White's c-pawn looks a little vulnerable to a potential ...Qc6. But then again, the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet, so it could be a mirage.
Jan-27-08  AdrianP: Surely a draw now...?
Jan-27-08  SCUBA diver: White should play Q-d5. ..
Jan-27-08  chessic eric: 48.Bd5 to avoid the draw (if that can be done eventually is a different issue). There is then a threat in 49.Qf5 and 50.Qg6+
Jan-27-08  popski: Bah, that's the end, draw.

Sneaky: <chessic> Sorry I'm as confused as you are, I'm just speculating. I think Peter is leaving now. He says

<I think I'm going to collapse and die now, I should go. ... Just one last thing: Magnus decided that he's better in the position we were discussing and took on e5 instead of c5.> -- Svidler

<Woah, probably not too risky anyway.> -- Benjamin

<No. In fact I don't see quite why he would do that, because Black now has... well, maybe ... well he will not even end up a pawn up, after ...Qc6 then what does he do? Why would he think he is better here? Man, I'm completely dead. ... Maybe just [trade queens] and it's time to smoke a cigar.

Anyhow on that cheerful note, thanks for relieving me of my duties, and all the best to everybody.> -- Svidler

Jan-27-08  Marmot PFL: Anand still have some attacking chances.
Jan-27-08  chessic eric: (in Anand-Kramnik, now it is white who has declied a repitition of moves)
Jan-27-08  benjinathan: OK now even I can see it.

  jessicafischerqueen: Yes, My dear <Gorilla>.

BANANA looks like he wants to try anythig to win the tournament.

I think he needs a miracle though.

Domdaniel: Before the exchanges Fritz thought it was dead level. Now it reckons White is better by 0.01 pawns. Such awesome precision engineering...
Jan-27-08  chessic eric: <jfq> and it'll be sharing first in any case, right? All this <Banana> talk has me salivating...
Jan-27-08  krpvksprv: A draw.
Jan-27-08  chessic eric: i suppose 51.e6 isn't good because it's too far advanced to be supported, but what i really don't get is 56.fxg5, putting doubled pawns behind the g5 pawn.
Jan-27-08  whiteshark: Draw agreed!
Congratulations!
Jan-27-08  Philidor: Congratulations Magnus to winning the Corus!!! A shared win is still a win...

Domdaniel: Draw's official. I was starting to worry about their sanity.
Jan-27-08  chessic eric: we reach <tamar>'s position!
Jan-27-08  Simonkaser: According to playchess.com, they have drawn. Carlsen will arrive first with Aronian with 8/12 points. Very good tournament from the kid!
Jan-27-08  talisman: pla.yed it almost to the kings...good game
Jan-27-08  Simonkaser: Congratulations Magnus!
