Phony Benoni: When I saw this game in the Pun Voting Booth, I paused for a moment. The pun wasn't immediately clear. Then when I got it ("Chili Cook-off", a culinary competition determining which chili recipe sets off the most fire alarms), I began hoping the game was decent.

But for the first 35 moves, Dullsville. Then came <36.Rxe6>:

and it was a hot time ini the old town tonight.

Feb-11-14  PaulLovric: always a thrilling ending: QvRR
Feb-11-14  Tim Delaney: After 41.Rf7, white threatens 42. f4+, so Black can't keep his Q.

<PaulLovric> Not QvRR, but rather, after 41.Rf7, QPPPPvRR. (The c4 pawn cannot be held.)

Feb-11-14  Conrad93: 55. Kf4 wins on the spot.
Feb-11-14  thisischess: 39...Qf5? probably cost black the game. Instead 39...R5d7 defends the g7 square and Black can probably hold for the draw.
Feb-11-14  TheTamale: Thanks, <PaulLovric>; that sequence of moves was a mystery to me.
Feb-11-14  kevin86: White queens and mates in two.

Black is Kuked .

Feb-11-14  psmith: <Conrad93> I fail to see the big difference between 55. Kf2 and 55. Kf4. Rybka doesn't see it either. Both win easily.
Feb-11-14  Ferro: "El Ășltimo Mohicano"
Feb-11-14  Ferro: "El espejismo"
Feb-11-14  Ferro: "The Mirage"
Feb-11-14  fmartelli: Of course White avoided 66. d8=Q?? Rxh5+! with Black immolating both rooks for a stalemate.
Feb-11-14  Yerbamate: fmartelli, i think after 66. d8=Q Rxh5+ and both rooks as you said, black king can move to e6...
Feb-11-14  dumbgai: Should have declined the rook with 36...Qxc3, followed by Qxd4.
Feb-15-14  Conrad93: Psmith, use Houdini then.

It ranks Kf4 much higher.

perfidious: As <PB> noted, most of this game was a trip through Dullsville, but hotted up when Black tried to do something.
