perfidious: In this duel of youngsters, the Fort Knox line receives a crushing defeat-suppose White knew of Kotronias' efforts in this line?
Jun-16-11  AGOJ: Hot tamale! Is this sound?!
Jan-24-12  whiteshark: Getz noch?
Jan-14-15  Whitehat1963: Hilarious takedown Fier gives Getz.

Penguincw: Great pun. "Baptism by Fire" means "a very difficult first experience of something", and well, this is the first time Getz has ever played the Fort Knox defense, and Fier just crushes him.

An Englishman: Good Evening: One might reasonably hope that the real Fort Knox offered better protection than this defense.
Aug-08-15  zoren: Nxf7 in general is extremely dangerous in the Fort Knox defense. The primary antidote is to exchange the bishop for knight on f3 but only when absolutely necessary, and his secondary line of defense is to put the bishop onto d6 to develop while adding a flight square but White chooses a move order that sacrifices the knight as soon as possible which may be TN (maybe not ultimately be a sound one) - definitely got Getz off guard.
Aug-08-15  morfishine: Baptism by Fear??????????

Another non-pun descends into the abyss

sorokahdeen: Boy, a development advantage can be worth something, I guess. :D
Aug-08-15  Travis Bickle: Fier plays this brilliantly!
Aug-08-15  mruknowwho: Yep. That just happened.
Aug-08-15  mruknowwho: Rather than 10...Kd8?, Black could have put up more resistance by means of 10...h6 11. Re1 e5!

Keep fighting the good fight, although it doesn't seem to help. I like my pun better :) (scroll up to see it)

In military usage, from its origin in French it also passed to Spanish, it means the first combat for a soldier, or any army like air force, a squadron, etc.

So the pun is fairly consistent imho.

10... h6 11. Qh5+ seems better for W. I think 10... 0-0-0 is maybe an option? Where's B's mistake?

Aug-08-15  mruknowwho: Rookiepawn: You make a good point with 11. Qh5+. I just didn't think 10...Kd8 did anything to slow down the attack. That's why I gave it the "?" annotation mark.
Aug-09-15  Rookiepawn: <mruknowwho> I agree, 10... Kd8 seems poor and probably the point in which things go downhill for B. Is any engine-savvy user able to give us a hint about the best move here?
Aug-09-15  computer chess guy: Komodo says Black should have played 9. .. Bxg2, which picks up a pawn and stops White from castling.
