FSR: Believe it or not, White scored 50% in three games with 5.Ng5?? Opening Explorer

FSR: Further research shows 5.Ng5?? played in 11 games in Mega Database 2013. The players were quite high-rated. The median White player had a rating of 2364 (Ms. Galojan, in this very game), the median Black player 2406. No player with either color was rated below 2195. Black scored much more modestly than you'd expect for higher-rated players receiving piece odds: +7 =1 -3 (68.2%). And no, White does not have compensation for the piece: Houdini 3 gives as best play 6.Nc3 Qxg5 7.e4 Qg4 8.f3 Qh4+ 9.g3 Qh5 (-3.45).

You mean in the final position? It does indeed, but 39.Qa5# is even better.

FSR: Wow. I just found out that the loser of this game,
Anna Ushenina, became Women's World Champion later the same year.

  OhioChessFan: I noticed the d5 mate also <oling> I assume you meant 38. d5 c5 39. Bxc5#

d5 seemed natural, but in a blitz game, I guess moving a piece is more appealing. Either way, mate is on the 39th move. Or if you meant on the 39th move, Black could extend a little. 39. d5 Ka8 40. Qa5+ Ba6 41. Qxa6#

Apr-28-13  The Last Straw: 14...gxf5? looks weak. I also don't like 16...h5? or 17...h4?!.

I'm getting more 'link' each other day :)

I can't find a translation for the Dutch word 'link'. It kind of means risky, shrewd and dangerous.
