Nov-16-12  jrofrano: ouchhhhhhhh rh5# probably a good deal of time pressure in this position.
Nov-16-12  waustad: This may have been her last shot at the title that has eluded her for so long. When she stopped losing to Maia C all of the time in 2000, she was no longer the champ. Is she so chooses next year, she would be a huge favorite to be Senior Women's WC, unless Maia is also in the field. In that case they'd probably be co-favorites. Nona G is the top rated woman this year and she's 71 yo.
Nov-16-12  whiteshark: <57.Rb7!!> would have been the winning move here

Nov-16-12  Wyatt Gwyon: Damn. Tough rook ending. I'd wager the clock was a huge factor.

Yes, in a must-win game for White, she missed *two* wins, as pointed out by <whiteshark> above, the straightforward 57 ♖b6-b7! and the brilliant 68 f3-f4+!!.

Nov-16-12  notyetagm: Game Collection: TRAPPED PIECES! TRAPPED PIECES! TRAPPED PIECES!
Nov-16-12  braimondi: Embarrassing mate.

<braimondi: Embarrassing mate.>

Yep, Cramling thought that 71 ... ♖g6-g5 was just to protect the Black f5-pawn from the White rooks doubled along the fifth rank.

71 ... ♖g6-g5 Δ ♖g5-h5#

She completely missed the point that there is also a threat: 72 ... ♖g5-h5#.

72 ♖e5-c5?? ♖g5-h5#
