Jun-01-15  coolconundrum: Looks like the little punk lifted some jobava prep for this debacle.
Jun-01-15  CountryGirl: When in France - play the French?! Not a happy trip for young Anish...
Jun-01-15  EhsanBalani: I think 13... Bxd4 was a blunder.
Jun-01-15  paavoh: Why not enter the normal variation 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.Nge2 dxe4 5.a3 Bxc3+ 6.Nxc3 Nc6? Black equalizes rather easily in this line. Overconfidence?

ajk68: 36...a5 has the feel of a serious blunder. The pawn on a7 was a locker. Moving it forward allowed white to get a pair of connected passed pawns.
Jun-03-15  patzer2: The initial few moves in this opening variation of the French are OK for Black.

However the plan 8...h5, 9...h4, 10...hxg3 seems a bit time consuming and suspect.

Instead of <8...h5>, I prefer 8...e5 = with a more flexible and conventional plan for completing development.

P.S.: In an already weak position for Black, 13...a5 14. d5! appears to be preferable to 13...Bxd4 14. Nxd4 .

Jun-03-15  patzer2: <ajk68: 36...a5 has the feel of a serious blunder.> This loses but so do the alternatives.

My computer gives 36...Kf6 as Black's best when play might continue 37.Rd6+ Ke7 38.R6xd3 Rxd3 39.Rxd3 Ke6 40.c6 Rb8 41.Rd4 Ke5 42.Rc4 Kd5 43.Rc5+ Kd6 44.c7 Rc8 45.Rc4 Kd7 46.Kg5 Rg8+ 47.Kf6 Rf8+ 48.Kg7 Rc8 49.g4 Rxc7 50.Rxc7+ Kxc7 51.g5 (+3.38 @ 25 depth, Deep Fritz 14).

Jun-03-15  posoo: lolol i LOV when Grishi looses!
