Feb-06-17  gopi11: Nifty sac there!
Feb-06-17  Rookiepawn: Can anyone explain a patzer like me why not 24. Bf2? As far as I see the BQ cannot retreat and hold the BN in c4.

I thought 23. Rf1 was a way to avoid the taking in c4 due to 24. Bf2, but what do I know, these guys think in another level...

tpstar: Fritz 10 Deep Position Analysis [618MB]:

24. Bf2

click for larger view

24 ... Qxa3

1) 25. Bxc4 Qxc1 26. Rxc1 Bd7 27. Bb6 a3 = [-0.07/19]

2) 25. dxc6 Qxc1 26. Rxc1 Nb2 27. cxb7 Bxb7 [-1.84]

Wesley likely avoided 24. Bf2 as it leads to a Queen trade after 24 ... Qxa3, then Black's Queenside Pawns may become dangerous.

In this KID Makagonov System, 10 ... Bd7 is more common than 10 ... c6 = Opening Explorer
