Jul-13-21  Whitehat1963: Not an opening you see every day!
Jul-13-21  Whitehat1963: In fact, after 2?Be7, the opening book has already been thrown, shredded, and burned.

An Englishman: Good Evening: After 2.Qe2, both sides will soon leave theory and have to think for themselves--a good outcome for an imaginative attacker like White. Personally, 2...g6 followed by ...Bg7, ...Ne7, ...d6, ...b6 and the Hippopotamus Defense would appeal to me.

beatgiant: <An Englishman> Zvjaginsev has played the opening before, as in Zvjaginsev vs Kiriakov, 2008 and Zvjaginsev vs S Volkov, 2009, so he was probably not entirely improvising here.
