JONATHAN SARFATI
(born Oct-01-1964, 60 years old) Australia (federation/nationality New Zealand)

[what is this?]

Dr Jonathan David Sarfati was born in Ararat, Australia in 1964. He later moved to New Zealand and was awarded the FM title in 1988. He was New Zealand Champion in 1987-88 and played for New Zealand on three Olympiad teams. He is currently living in the USA.

He attended Wellington College in New Zealand, later graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a BSc (Hons.) in chemistry, and a PhD in the same subject.

Sarfati was a founder of the Wellington Christian Apologetics Society in New Zealand, and has long retained an interest in Christian apologetics and the creation–evolution controversy. His first two books, Refuting Evolution in 1999, and Refuting Evolution 2 in 2002, are intended as rebuttals to the National Academy of Sciences' publication Teaching about Evolution and the Nature of Science and the PBS/Nova series Evolution, respectively.

Maybe he should concentrate on refuting something simpler, like the Ruy Lopez.

Dec-17-05  Xeeniner: Dr. Sarfati also wrote Refuting Evolution 2. He sometimes writes columns for www.answersingenesis.org.
Jul-11-06  James Bowman: Jonathan Sarfati has a DVD produced by Answers in Genesis about fulfillments of messianic prophecy from the Old Testament that is very well done as well on one refuting chemical evolution i.e spontaneous generation that is very interesting. I was watching The first DVD and noticed a brief statement that he is a chess player so I thought I would look at his games here.

Sep-05-07  Benzol: From the report on the 1977 NZ Schoolpupils Championship from the October 1977 issue of the NZ Chess Magazine.

"Jonathan Sarfati, at 12 years, gave away too much experience to his rivals but had one nice win: J. Sarfati - N. Jonathan any chance of you still having the full score of this game somewhere?

Also what happened to Nigel Dixon?

Oct-05-07  Ziggurat: Apparently, Jonathan Sarfati has played a blindfold simul here in Singapore today. Unfortunately, I only found out about it after the fact, when I browsed the Straits Times on my way home from work.

Jonathan Sarfati: <Ziggurat> Sorry to miss you. I played about 12 sighted (12-0) then a blindfold with only 6 (still tired from the el-cheapo) overnight flight) scoring +4=2. A young lady called Dawn was the caller; she was pretty good, and has apparently played for Singapore.

Jonathan Sarfati: <Benzol>, thanx, but in my move to Oz, I lost a lot of old game scores. No idea where Nigel Dixon is now after 30 years, sorry. Interesting that he tried a Marshall, when even back then I was known to like it myself for Black.
Dec-27-07  RichardT: Really nice games you've got there Dr. Sarfati. I like your chess games and your articles on AiG / CotW. Keep up the good work.

Jonathan Sarfati holds a Ph D in Chemistry. Better to be thought to be stupid than to post something like this and remove all doubt.

JointheArmy: < Better to be thought to be stupid than to post something like this and remove all doubt.>

That was the chessgames.com quote of the day a few days ago I believe.

Dec-28-07  DarthStapler: If he had a PH.D. in Biology you might have a point. Creationism is bull****, you know that right?
Dec-28-07  micartouse: <Darth> I'm sure he's struggling hard to be as intelligent and accomplished as you, but let's be patient.
Dec-28-07  Benzol: <Darth> You and I may not share Dr Sarfati's beliefs but anyone who obtains a doctorate in chemistry would have to be intelligent wouldn't you say? Lets stick to chess and not get into a slanging match about religion OK.
Dec-28-07  DarthStapler: Intelligent with regards to chemistry.... which is almost completely unrelated to evolution.
Dec-28-07  Jim Bartle: "Lets stick to chess and not get into a slanging match about religion OK."

I thought it was about science, but maybe that's where the disagreement starts.
