Maaja Ranniku was born on the 1st of March 1941 in the USSR. Awarded the WIM title in 1964 she was USSR Women's Champion in 1963 (jointly), 1967 and 1970 (jointly). She became Estonian Women's Champion ten times (1961, 1963, 1967, 1973, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1987, 1988 and 1991).

May-31-06   stanleys: Do you know something more about this Estonian woman?As I see she was many times URRS champion or medalist,but she never played the Olympics,neither Interzonal tournament.And she hasn't never been awarded a GM title
