  tpstar: <cormier> Thanks for voting!

1)Are you sure your first entry wasn't Aronian vs Carlsen, 2017 instead of a blitz draw?

2) Your second choice is ineligible for the 2017 contest.

Have fun voting!

HeMateMe: I'm not sure how to vote, but I would spread my votes among these three great games:

1) master tactician Anand defeats Caruana:

<Anand vs Caruana, 2017>

2) another tactical gem, Lev Aronian beats Carlsen in 2017 (I don't understand the pun, though..."Norwegian Blue"?)

<Aronian vs Carlsen, 2017>

3) Poor Matthias was a doormat with blue balls after this 2017 pounding from Kramnik at Dortmond:

<Kramnik vs M Bluebaum, 2017>

my apologies if my voting wasn't done correctly.

Your #1 choice gets 10 points, your #2 choice gets 9 points, and your #3 choice gets 8 points. You may choose up to seven more games in order by midnight.

Have fun voting!

Jan-31-18  FairyPromotion: I'm late by a few hours, but hopefully it will count.

1. J Bai vs Ding Liren, 2017

2. T Hillarp Persson vs F Grafl, 2017

3. B Ider vs Yifan Hou, 2017

4. Kramnik vs Harikrishna, 2017

5. Anand vs Caruana, 2017

6. Aronian vs Carlsen, 2017

7. A Firouzja vs M Bluebaum, 2017

8. Tomashevsky vs S Volkov, 2017

9. Topalov vs B D Deac, 2017

Jan-31-18  Keyser Soze: <Topalov vs B D Deac, 2017>

Great choice!

tpstar: <FairyPromotion> Thanks for voting! Great list.

<Severin> I entered your games from Game Collection: 2017 games in the contest, awarding them one point each. Next time, if you want to specify ten top choices in your Game Collections, I will include them in the voting.

I either missed that one, or forgot it. It's funny how often I see games other people vote for and think "I should have voted for that!" Topalov-Deac is another one. Of course, we only get to vote for 10, so some good ones have to be left out.

2) another tactical gem, Lev Aronian beats Carlsen in 2017 (I don't understand the pun, though..."Norwegian Blue"?)>

Maybe: "Norwegian Blue It"
would have been better?

tpstar: <we only get to vote for 10, so some good ones have to be left out>

This is the same situation for the WC cycle. If you pick eight players for the Candidates Tournament, what about the ninth? If you pick twelve players, what about the thirteenth? Etc. ad infinitum.

A great feature of the Best Games contest is highlighting notable games which otherwise may be overlooked. <Chnebelgrind> has consistently good taste = Game Collection: best of 2017

Feb-04-18  Keyser Soze: Hey nice puns as well. :)

3) Levitra

Aronian vs Carlsen, 2017>

Yes, most of the action took place on the
Kingside/Queenside, vs the E/D files!

tpstar: <diceman> Jokes like that can be hard on people.

I was hoping for a game featuring the Pawn trades fxe5/fxe5 or ... fxe4/fxe4 so I could use "Cov-fe-fe" but it wasn't in the cards.

  tpstar: ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ BEST GAMES OF 2017 ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔

We are voting on the best games of last year and will record our results for posterity in a Game Collection. For the Best Games of 2017, please post your votes in the bgitw chessforum from now until January 30, and then we'll announce the results starting January 31. You may list up to ten database games from 2017, with your #1 choice receiving ten points and your #10 choice receiving one point. If you only nominate one game, it gets all 10 points; three games get 10 points & 9 points & 8 points, and so on. Please list your votes in downward order with #1 first and not a reverse countdown. Also, please do not post any running updates of the voting until the end. Note each game must receive at least two votes to make the Top Ten.

You may include a description of why you enjoyed that game if you like, or else just post your list. Don't feel any pressure to supply deep analysis, and don't feel compelled to justify your choices. Vote however you want.

Thanks to <OhioChessFan> who found these great Game Collections from 2017:

Game Collection: best games of chessgames 2017

Game Collection: best of 2017

Game Collection: Best games of 2017

Game Collection: Best games of 2017

Game Collection: OhioChessFan's favorite games of 2017

Game Collection: 99_whiteshark's favorite games of 2017

Game Collection: 2017 games

For this edition, every game listed in a Best Games Collection will receive one #10 point, then those kibitzers are always welcome to make a Top Ten list.

Have fun voting! ;>D

  tpstar: <diceman> Great punchline!

Although I read on the Internet that President Obama's tenure was "scandal-free" and the FBI "cleared" Hillary Clinton and claimed she did "nothing wrong" with her e-mails.

These would be my responses:

1) "Waah! Waah! Waah! I've been banished from the Wesley So page! Waah! Waah! Waah! I need the Administrators to give me special treatment! Waah! Waah! Waah!"

2) "Wow, I hope Magnus Carlsen's girlfriend never reads the C-A-R-L-S-E-N page from the top."

3) "Unbelievable the crap <tpstar> gets away with."

What a difference a day makes. Just yesterday, nobody cared about my posts or even bothered to read them. Today, they are Libel.

Social justice warriors are so lazy. Notice not one word about the death threat, or attacking White people, or sabotaging the Wikipedia entry. But using his own racist language against him somehow crossed the line. The entire Barangay Beronio knew who I meant and what and why.

You figured out (3) right?! ;>D
