Apr-26-07 | | Strongest Force: K's soft moves with his q-n has Magnus trying for the win now with 24.Nfd2 |
Apr-26-07
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Computer says Krasenkow blundered with 29...Ne5, giving Carlsen more than one way to have a +1 eval (17 ply)... |
Apr-26-07 | | Strongest Force: There are still tricks available for both players; they both must be careful. |
Apr-26-07
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: It's a bit simplified now, and in Magnus' favor moreover (eval +2.26 15 ply after move 32)... |
Apr-26-07 | | Strongest Force: Nice play by Magnus ... K's play shows how when you have a player by the b***s, you've got to keep up the pressure or you will get kicked in the face! :) |
Apr-26-07 | | percyblakeney: Carlsen wins, very good tournament for him. |
Apr-26-07 | | Xaurus: Very good Magnus! Your rating is now 2704 (unofficially)! |
Apr-26-07 | | Atking: Congratulations to Carlsen. When you are the favorite it's not always easy to win a tournament. |
Apr-26-07 | | Astardis: Sheesh, the child won. |
Apr-26-07 | | Astardis: Anybody got a piece of information about Joanna Dworakowska? I've had half an eye on her games over the past days and quite liked them. |
Apr-26-07 | | Interbond: Take look at the game Greet-Lie .For many moves Greet had an advantage for more than +6.0 points and one time over +10.0 ,also Lie had an winning advantage. It seems very easy for us with chessprograms to see this, but I really think it was very difficult to play this game. For the last 40 moves this game was a clear draw, but I guess Lie played on because he needed 1 point to get his first GM norm.Anyway he got his second IM norm, he would get it even if he lost this game. |
Apr-26-07 | | PhilFeeley: Very humourous ending position for Moskow in his game against Krush in the last round, with all his pieces huddled around the e1-d1 squares! |
Apr-26-07 | | norami: Bizarre position after move 50 of Greet-Lie. Eleven pieces on the board, and no pawns! |
Apr-26-07 | | THE pawn: By the way, does Carlsen even win 1 point in this event? |
Apr-26-07 | | Xaurus: He had a performance rating of 2748, so yes he will gain elo-points. They say about 6. |
Apr-26-07 | | Dr.Lecter: Congrats to Carlsen! |
Apr-26-07 | | CapablancaRuyLopez: If he gains 6 elo then wouldnt he break his record of 2698 by 1? |
Apr-27-07 | | Xaurus: <CapablancaRuyLopez:> He has some points from Bundesliga ready too. So he's 2704 at this very moment. |
Apr-27-07 | | Tactic101: So Magnus has broken the 2700 barrier? Or will it only be official when the next list comes out? |
Apr-27-07 | | sapfy: If the candidates matches are not rated for the July list, then yes, Carlsen will officially have crossed 2700 (2704). If the candidates matches are included (the first set of matches end 2. June), Magnus can afford to go -2 against Aronian and still be 2700. That's assuming all six games are played (if it's -2 after five games, will the sixth game be played?), and also assuming the rating changes for the Gausdal tournament is calculated game-by-game. |
Apr-27-07 | | Davolni: Does anybody know how many games Carlsen will have to play Aronian? |
Apr-27-07 | | iron maiden: I find it hard to believe that FIDE won't have the Candidates matches be counted for July. <If the candidates matches are included (the first set of matches end 2. That's assuming all six games are played (if it's -2 after five games, will the sixth game be played?)> If it is played, it won't be rated. FIDE has a rule that says in a match between two players, as soon as one player scores enough points to win, no more games count for rating even if they're actually played. |
Apr-27-07 | | Rolfo: <Davolni> It's a match with 6 games, if undecided then rapids and blitz if necessary. I think Magnus decides in 5 games.. |
Apr-27-07 | | Dr.Lecter: <Davloni> In the candidate matches? I think the last time I heard, it should be two games. |
Apr-28-07 | | sapfy: <iron maiden: I find it hard to believethat FIDE won't have the Candidates matches be counted for July.> One would think so, but remember the reason FIDE gave for initially not including Linares in the April list. Supposedly they intend to be strict about about that in the future. |
