Sep-13-07  slomarko: and what was that horrible Ke5? the Ke4 was logical now he covered the h2-b8 diagonal.
Sep-13-07  percyblakeney: Wasn't 76. Qh8+ immediately winning?
Sep-13-07  Mameluk: Hmm, I analyse worse than ever, but I still see no win in those lines. Anyway now 76. Qh8+ was pretty easy. What´s up?:)
Sep-13-07  slomarko: oh my navara missed 76.Rd8!
Sep-13-07  acirce: 76.Qh8+ and even I would have won.

SwitchingQuylthulg: Yes, 76.Qh8+ was the move, whatever <slomarko>'s computer might suggest.
Sep-13-07  gmgomes: <Wasn't 76. Qh8+ immediately winning?> yes; tablebase win, after Q exchanges!
Sep-13-07  acirce: Not just a tablebase win, but a very simple human win. Always trickier with queens.
Sep-13-07  gmgomes: it is still tablebase win for white!!
Sep-13-07  percyblakeney: Qc2+ nice finish!
Sep-13-07  Mameluk: Well, David, I wanted to go swimming. Screw you:)
Sep-13-07  hovik2003: I feel sorry for Timman , but he had his chance to catch up.
Sep-13-07  slomarko: <Not just a tablebase win, but a very simple human win. Always trickier with queens.> trickier for you maybe but for super GM it is a matter of technique
Sep-14-07  hovik2003: I think Timann's 19...Nxd5 was not good, now Akopian plays 20.Na5 exchanging blacks powerful bishop.

Stonehenge: Pono-Shirov draw after 26 moves.
Sep-14-07  Mameluk: Another interesting round with original openings will probably bring another punch of draws, which should help the in-form Akopian who is crashing Timman at the moment.

Shirov made a not so popular queen sacrifice in Grunfeld and drew Ponomariov without much trouble.

Sep-14-07  hovik2003: Shirov is playing really bad in this event. Now he is keep blundering against Ponomariov. Korchnoi as ususal fighting hard against Lazno and I think he is plus. Akopian is winning agaainst Timman.
Navara has the attack against Movsesian, but I think he can hold.

Odd thing to say about a draw.

Sep-14-07  Robin01: Go Korchnoi!
Sep-14-07  Mameluk: Surprising blunder from Movsesian now the 32. Qc5 which allows Navara to play Qh4 with big advantage.
Sep-14-07  hovik2003: Yes I was wrong in that case, but I am not a expert in endings, before they agreed to draw rook against queen looked hopeless.
Sep-14-07  Mameluk: Akopian-Timman 1-0 in 25 moves and the armenian plays clearly best chess so far, but has black against Shirov in last round. Hmmm.
Sep-14-07  Mameluk: <hovik2003> This is a classic, against rook on f5 you can do nothing. Shirov sacrificed a piece to make it shorter.
Sep-14-07  Mameluk: Navara has two ways to win now, not easy though. Laznicka is also pressing well.
Sep-14-07  hovik2003: <Mameluk> I should only watch and learn. My brain is kind of slow today.
