  Troller: Hello to everyone!
<Strongest Force> It's actually an early start, locel time is 10:56 am right now. They often play last round earlier to have time for celebrations etc.

Who has an engine? Game looks interesting, Krasenkow wants to give it a try for the win, it seems.

Apr-26-07  percyblakeney: <Who has an engine?>

Rybka says something around -0.20 while Shredder thinks it's even, Rybka seems more believable.

Apr-26-07  Strongest Force: The nice thing about the black position is that it is ready for action on any part of the board.
Apr-26-07  Strongest Force: Kras seems to be unsure of a course-of-action and has allowed Magnus to improve his position.

Troller: Black still seems to have an edge. I like to play ...g5 in such positions.

Portisch is a pawn up, but has to face an active rook. 18...Nf6 looks solid.

Apr-26-07  Strongest Force: Now the position is dead even! Both of these players are annoying the €$¥& out of me..... i'm gonna go fix some breakfast!
Apr-26-07  percyblakeney: Still uncomfortable for Carlsen.

  Troller: Jones-Portisch drawn.

Carlsen-Krasenkow: 23.Qe2,Ng4 threatening on f2 has been played. Carlsen will probably play 24.Nxd6,Nxd6, still with a very nice position for Black.

Apr-26-07  Atking: Carlsen has a difficult opening. It is possible that he has been surpised by the stonewall? 4.Nbd2 is not the best way to exchange the dark square bishop (Bd6)... in these lines. Still there is some tricks one Black main weakness e6.
Apr-26-07  percyblakeney: Now the engines suddenly think Carlsen is clearly better, so Krasenkow must have gone wrong somewhere.
Apr-26-07  Atking: I very surprised (pleasantly)by the performance of Portisch just after his match against Spassky (Without an horrible mistake the later may win). I really think that here Fischer would be able to win at least one more game... The old master are still dangerous in a tournament of few rounds.
Apr-26-07  Strongest Force: K's soft moves with his q-n has Magnus trying for the win now with 24.Nfd2

SwitchingQuylthulg: Computer says Krasenkow blundered with 29...Ne5, giving Carlsen more than one way to have a +1 eval (17 ply)...
Apr-26-07  Strongest Force: There are still tricks available for both players; they both must be careful.

SwitchingQuylthulg: It's a bit simplified now, and in Magnus' favor moreover (eval +2.26 15 ply after move 32)...
Apr-26-07  Strongest Force: Nice play by Magnus ... K's play shows how when you have a player by the b***s, you've got to keep up the pressure or you will get kicked in the face! :)
Apr-26-07  percyblakeney: Carlsen wins, very good tournament for him.
Apr-26-07  Xaurus: Very good Magnus! Your rating is now 2704 (unofficially)!
Apr-26-07  Atking: Congratulations to Carlsen. When you are the favorite it's not always easy to win a tournament.
Apr-26-07  Astardis: Sheesh, the child won.
Apr-26-07  Astardis: Anybody got a piece of information about Joanna Dworakowska? I've had half an eye on her games over the past days and quite liked them.
Apr-26-07  Interbond: Take look at the game Greet-Lie .For many moves Greet had an advantage for more than +6.0 points and one time over +10.0 ,also Lie had an winning advantage.

It seems very easy for us with chessprograms to see this, but I really think it was very difficult to play this game.

For the last 40 moves this game was a clear draw, but I guess Lie played on because he needed 1 point to get his first GM norm.Anyway he got his second IM norm, he would get it even if he lost this game.

Apr-26-07  PhilFeeley: Very humourous ending position for Moskow in his game against Krush in the last round, with all his pieces huddled around the e1-d1 squares!
Apr-26-07  norami: Bizarre position after move 50 of Greet-Lie. Eleven pieces on the board, and no pawns!
Apr-26-07  THE pawn: By the way, does Carlsen even win 1 point in this event?
