May-20-14 | | whiteshark: Congrats to Gata |

May-20-14 | | parmetd: Larry Christiansen in 2002. |

May-20-14 | | ajile: Good job by Kamsky. Solid as a rock. |

May-20-14 | | Everett: < parmetd: Everett, perhaps we can have a short email conversation. I would be interested to know your thoughts on John Romaniello's book Man 2.0> A quick look through his website gives the impression that he is a knowledgeable guy who is not going to hurt you. Basic fitness and getting in shape is actually not complicated, and he seems to take a light and funny tone with it. In fact, here is a little article that basically sums up why professional chess masters almost all become obese: http://www.romanfitnesssystems.com/... they sit, they study too late at night, and they are always drinking sugar and caffeinated beverages instead of water. I'm not going to purchase the book, but I imagine it gathers a lot of important material together for the lay man, and will likely be useful to anyone who hasn't considered proper sleep, nutrition, hydration, breathing and exercise to get your hormones working for you. Truth is, if the hormones are working for you, chances are you will look and feel pretty good. If you are truly looking to move better, become more athletic, nothing beats a coach/trainer who knows what he/she is doing. |

 | | eternaloptimist: the u. s. chess championships were really exciting this year! it's too bad that lenderman & akobian came up a little short but kamsky's rapid game chess experience came thru for him in the playoff. both lenderman & akobian played well for the most part. kamsky had to play catchup in this tourney but his rock solid nerves helped him win back-to-back chmps. kudos to him. ramirez came in 2nd place last year after losing in the playoff to kamsky but this year he played horribly at times & finished 2nd from the bottom...a very disappointing tourney for him. shank & naroditsky r worth keeping an eye on in future u. s. chmps.. shank beat lenderman & akobian in this tourney! |

Maybe <pipi> can take a leaf from the playbook of Moz and make nonsense posts on all my games here, till the admins step in and remove the content.>Why are you whining on this forum? If you think I am going to take a page out of <your playbook>, then you have missed some critical differences between us. I don't chase someone I dislike around this site, kibitzing behind them wherever they post, with demeaning sarcastic comments. You do. I don't bring someone's wife in for ridicule and demeaning references. You do. I don't try to humiliate a person based on where they live. You do. I have never taken up residence in another country and proceeded to badmouth all who defend that country. You have. I don't label someone a racist when they disagree with the politics or capability of a black politician. You have. I have no doubt there are more critical differences. If I were an unthinking leftist drone with you as my role model, I would be engaging in all of the above. To this point, I have been able to resist.

 | | HeMateMe: Gata is still the man! |
May-20-14 | | RookFile: Undefeated, that's hard to do. |
May-21-14 | | waustad: I'm sad to see posters I had no problem with sniping at each other. Perhaps I missed what offended each, but give it a rest!!! |
May-21-14 | | Steve.Patzer: @ Nizman On the puzzle, whose move is it? |
May-21-14 | | Kanatahodets: <PinnedPiece: I don't label someone a racist when they disagree with the politics or capability of a black politician. You have.> That's funny:) Is it true? |
May-21-14 | | Moszkowski012273: I'd put money on it... |
May-21-14
 | | perfidious: <Kanatahodets> No--it is another of that poster's outright lies. |
May-21-14 | | Chris321: Hi Pinned piece,your first diagram looks like 1 Rd8 |
May-21-14 | | Chris321: Nizman, your diagram looks a bit better for White to me,will take a look at it maybe some other time, gotta run for now, anyway maybe white got more pressure/potential pressure against black King me thinks. |
May-22-14 | | jsy: <When was the last US champion that was actually born in America?> Larry Christiansen 2002, but what does it matter? Kamsky and company apparently are "loyal" Americans...and that's what really counts! |
May-22-14
 | | HeMateMe: Did Larry C really win in 2002? that was 12 years ago, but he was over the hill even then. |
May-22-14 | | parmetd: Larry Christiansen isn't even over the hill TODAY let alone 12 Years ago. He was the next person by rating to invite. He certainly would have finished better than Molner. And let's not forget he was close to winning the 2010 us championship if he had only closed his better position against Nakamura then he would have been in the final 4 Quad instead of Hikaru. Christiansen vs Nakamura, 2010 Christiansen vs Seirawan, 2011 |
May-22-14
 | | HeMateMe: He was...50 in 2002? That's over the hill, in chess. |
May-22-14 | | Chris321: <HeMateMe: He was...50 in 2002? That's over the hill, in chess.>Yea,except if you are a Lasker or to a certain extend Korchnoi, but it's rare to be competitive at that age...anyway doesn't need to go an throw away your bord an pieces when you hit 50...but no 50 year old will be able to take on Carlsen, about that i'm about 99,999999...an counting percent certain!...;) |
May-22-14 | | RookFile: Well, he's 57 today, 58 next month. He's been playing. Not a question as to whether he's got enough experience. It would be a grind, maybe he would get tired in the last few rounds. I know I would. |
May-22-14 | | Chris321: Kamsky is a good player, but i am no fan of him,not because he's not a good player,he is,but i dont enjoy playing his games through in particular,i think it's just his style i don't particularly enjoy, but that's my personal likes or dislikes i'm refering to,because no player can become 2700 if he is not exceptionally good in chess!. |
May-22-14 | | Chris321: Nizman's diagram don't, have to use engines to see black is in quite a bit of trouble, can see no way for him to survive the comming white attack, for starters at least 2 pawns will go into the box, leaving him with material minus,an then the King will come under so much attack that he will have to lay down his crown to white pretty soon |
May-22-14 | | Kanatahodets: <perfidious: <Kanatahodets> No--it is another of that poster's outright lies.> good to know; thanks. |
May-22-14 | | Kanatahodets: <sy: <When was the last US champion that was actually born in America?>
Larry Christiansen 2002, but what does it matter? Kamsky and company apparently are "loyal" Americans...and that's what really counts!> It is absolutely true: they are very loyal - well, many of them at least. BUT, the nation cannot rely upon only on immigrants. Same situation in universities and laboratories. For survival the country should produce enough own talents. This is just a philosophical idea of the projection of America's future. But we may be just on the bottom of a cycle. But I doubt: consumption culture destroys America. Chess is just one vivid example. |
