Jan-11-08  ahmadov: <jamesmaskell: <ahmadov> Morozevich won the Russian Championships only last month.> Others posted very interesting replies to this, but what I wanted to add is that Moro is not the highest rated player in Russia...
Jan-11-08  hovik2003: <jamesmaskell>
For a refreshing change, <Ahmadov> is right this time, so why don't you leave him alone!
Jan-11-08  ahmadov: <hovik2003> <For a refreshing change, <Ahmadov> is right this time, so why don't you leave him alone!> Thanks, I am really fine with this discussion and I am quite happy of <jamesmaskell>'s replies...
Jan-11-08  hovik2003: Amazingly round three results are all decisive except Andriasian-Lputian which ended in draw, I wish I were in playing hall to watch the games live and feel the excitement.

Tigran Petrosian leads with 3 points. Following him are Art Minasian, Ara Minasian and Ter-Sahakian with 2.5 points.

Jan-11-08  Riverbeast: I'm surprised to see 2430 ELO players in this tournament (Babujian), I thought Armenia was stocked with 2600+ players.

Maybe he was a qualifier of some sort?

Jan-11-08  hovik2003: I think traditionally they include one or two IMs in the players list to make the event more popular and entertaining, or could be as you mentioned they have won regional championship other than Yerevan district.

Well, I was always wondering where all those O'Brians or McGillians came from....:-D

Still, I have some doubts that Jaroslav Fabian is an Armenian.:-D

Jan-18-08  DUS: <Young chess player Samvel Ter-Sahakyan after completing an International Master norm also fulfilled a Grandmaster norm after the 9th round of the 68th Armenian Championship.

This is an unprecedented case in the rich history of Armenian chess, when a 14-year-old player fulfills a GM norm.>
