Penguincw: Is Sipke Ernst the only player left in the tournament (including Group A and C) who has not drawn a game yet?
Jan-21-13  Refused: <Penguincw: Is Sipke Ernst the only player left in the tournament (including Group A and C) who has not drawn a game yet?>

Yep.

Jan-22-13  Refused: Dutch Kamikaze at Work in the B-Group.

Timman and Ernst just blew their games.
Timman overlooked a neat tactic resource by Naiditsch. And Ernst just blundered against Dubov in an equal position.

Jan-22-13  achieve: Yes - this will hit them hard.

Can they recuperate in the last 4 rounds and show some balls?

Jan-22-13  whiteshark: Movse took the sole lead today with 6.5/9 followed by Rapport and Naiditsch with 6 points.

Penguincw: Make that 9 decisive games. Unfortunaly, only 2 of them favor Ernst.
Jan-22-13  Harvestman: To paraphrase the great Bent Larsen, Sipke Ernst doesn't lose too many half points.

Unfortunately he doesn't win as often as Larsen did either.

Jan-22-13  Jason Frost: Obviously in reckless form, to put it nicely. Hard to see how a gm plays 34...Rxd3 otherwise, though I suppose nothing is all that surprising after Naiditsch's blunder.

perfidious: Another unfortunate outing for Ernst today, as he pitched a centre pawn for nil compensation and his opponent obtained all the play into the bargain.
Jan-23-13  Blunderdome: Interesting ending in Rapport - Ipatov, looks like something from a textbook.

perfidious: Without the pawns in the d file, Black could well be drawing; as it is, Rapport has every chance of playing for a win.
Jan-25-13  dumbgai: Dubov wins and gets to within half a point of the leaders!
Jan-25-13  Jason Frost: Lot's of players still with a chance.

1. Movsesian, Naiditsch - 7.5
2. Rapport, Dubov - 7
3. Timman - 6.5

Dubov probably has the easiest schedule of the 5, with black vs Turov tomorrow, followed by white vs Van Kampen. Though Movsesian and Naiditsch have the friendly last round pairings of Ipatov and Ernst respectively as well.

Jan-25-13  fisayo123: Sad to see Rapport lose. Ipatov the Turkish hope seems out of his depth in this tournament. Hopefully, he can bounce back.
Jan-25-13  Jim Bartle: 51 decisive games out of 77 so far.
Jan-26-13  Jason Frost: Woops forgot Smeets with 7 as well, should be an exciting couple of rounds.
Jan-26-13  iamsheaf: It's a bit surprising that the group A score of Carlsen is higher than the score of Group B leader...normally you expect Groups B and C to have more decisive games
Jan-26-13  Jim Bartle: Group B does have more decisive games. It's just that nobody is undefeated or has put up a really big score, plus Carlsen has.

Penguincw: Looks like Ernst finally earned his first draw, Round 12.
Jan-26-13  IndigoViolet: Go Richie Rapport! I want to see him in next year's A group. I believe a victory over Nikolic tomorrow would assure him of first place on tiebreak.
Jan-26-13  Eyal: <first place on tiebreak>

In recent years, when two players shared first place in the B group, both were invited to the A group next year - Motylev & Carlsen in 2006, McShane & Navara in 2011 (though McShane eventually declined the invitation). So I won't be surprised if something like that happens this time as well (but three players would probably be too much...)

Penguincw: We could have as many as 5 players earning first (prior to tiebreaks), if this happens tomorrow:

Dubov - Van Kampen 1-0
Smeets - Turov 1/2-1/2
Grandelius - Tiviakov (doesn't really matter what the result is) Ipatov - Movsesian 1-0
Naiditsch - Ernst 0-1
Timman - Edouard (doesn't really matter what the result is)

Nikolic - Rapport 1-0

Jan-26-13  Refused: Unlikely to happen though.
Naiditsch has white and will push for a win against Ernst. Movsesian needs to push for a win with the black pieces against Ipatov. So I expect Naiditsch to win Wijk B, this year.
Jan-27-13  moppa: I noticed that Naiditsch (with +4) has earned 18,6 live rating points. I wonder why Movsesian (2688, also with +4) isn't on the live rating list. Is it possible he has earned less than 12 points?

Most of Naiditsch's live rating points are from Bundesliga games (http://www.2700chess.com/glass.php?...) - he gained only about 5 points so far from the Group B games.
