Feb-16-11  germfreak: <parmetd> On that we agree! =)
Feb-16-11  bharatiy: Le gets roughly $24000, good check for him!
Feb-16-11  Ezzy: These are some of the top players who will be playing in the World championship blitz qualifier tomorrow in Moscow.

Sergey Karjakin, Alexander Grischuk, Mamedyarov, Ruslan Ponomariov, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Kamsky, Movesian.

Feb-16-11  parmetd: Any idea if those games will be relayed? How many rounds? Time control? etc. How many qualifier spots are there?

HeMateMe: A shame the B and C groups aren't posted here.

gmhammer: As I understand it, the blitz is 9 double rounds. Time control 3 2. 6 qualifier spots.

Best wishes,
Jon Ludvig

Feb-16-11  Ezzy: Also the blitz starts at 11am Moscow time.

Not sure whether the games are being relayed.

Feb-16-11  parmetd: Thanks Hammer. Are you playing in it? Good luck if you are!

HeMateMe: What a dog fight. ten players bunched in at the top, within a half point of each other. Extreme parity.
Feb-16-11  Shams: Surely we can get <gmhammer> a more suitable avatar than a baseball...
Feb-16-11  Don Cossacks: Congratulations to Le and Vitiugov also.

gmhammer: I chose the baseball myself! It's so cool, and round. I thought the "Premium member"-thingy was a touch too boring. Anyhow, I am playing - but with a major cold I got before/during the 8th round. I'll make the best of it - should be a lot of fun at least!

Best wishes,
Jon Ludvig

Feb-17-11  parmetd: Here is a much better way to see ICC blitz ratings then getting on the server: http://staff.cs.utu.fi/~juhkivij/ch...

Well, it was after you caught the cold you started winning, so I wouldn't be too worried :) Very nice win in the 9th round, btw.

Best of luck!

ketchuplover: GMHAMMER did you ever play at Mainz? Sounds like it's ending. Thoughts?
Feb-17-11  crazybird: http://online.aeroflotchess.org/fin...

With one round left, 6 qualifier spots for World Blitz 2011, the current top 10 (in order) are:

Andreikin, Ponomariov, Mamedyarov, So, Pridorozhni, MVL, Sasha, Mamedov, Gata, Vitigov

Feb-17-11  crazybird: World Blitz qualifiers and top 6 after 9 rounds are

Mamedyarov, Ponomariov, Andreikin, Tomashevsky, So, Vitiugov

Feb-17-11  wordfunph: <crazybird> thanks for the heads up..
Feb-17-11  Ezzy: Stunning performance by Wesley So in the blitz, considering he was suffering in the 'open' and made a difficult decsion to withdraw. What a courageous fightback!

Another great performance from Tomashevsky and Vitiugov who also tied for first in the 'open.' Nice payday for those two.

Feb-17-11  fisayo123: <ezzy> how did it go in the blitz. Please tell.
Feb-17-11  Ezzy: <fisayo123:>

Top 6 qualify for the World blitz championship.

Feb-17-11  Shams: <Ezzy> A lot of big names didn't make the cut. How are the other WBC spots allocated?
Feb-17-11  crazybird: These 6 + 10 from Tal memorial + 4 nominees= World Blitz Championship
