Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-16-21  Alan McGowan: A interesting tournament, particularly because of the success of the three visitors: Friedmann of Poland, Opocensky of Czechoslovakia and Paul Michel, Germany.

The local player Karl Weinstock (who later moved to the USA and became Karl Vine) had a stunning start to the event with 5/5, including wins against Michel and Spielmann, followed by a draw with the eventual tournament winner. His 3rd round game with Spielmann featured a nice touch after 32...Nxc5, when 33.Bxc8 would have allowed 33...e2 34.Kf2 Ne4+, followed by ...Nxd6.
