sisyphus: IM Pavel Ponkratov lost his last-round game to Nepomniachtchi, missing a GM norm. IM Ray Robson lost his last three games, but still outperformed the ELO expectation; good experience.

Mar-01-09  laserlight: <laskersteinitz: FIDE uses increments; time-delay is an American invention.>

I had the impression that the time delay control was attributed to Bronstein.

Mar-01-09  WhiteRook48: Bacrot at the top!
Mar-02-09  laskersteinitz: <laserlight> Ah, you're right. I got confused. I thought Fischer had invented time delay and Bronstein increments, but it's the other way around!

Delay is used in the US, whereas increment is more common in Europe.

Mar-02-09  laskersteinitz: Now that the event is over, CG.com could update the piece of text on the left side of the home page.
