Chessgames.com Chess Event Description
Hastings 1933/34

The 14th renewal of the Hastings Chess Congress was held from December 27, 1933 through January 5, 1934, and featured the World Champion as part of the combatants. Despite Alekhine's presence, Flohr proved a bit more adept at beating the next tier of players. After round 7 he was 1/2-point ahead of Lilienthal and a full point up on Alekhine, then clinched his third straight clear Hastings victory with draws against them.
