Apr-09-10  Birthday Boy: Happy Birthday!!! Philidelphia Open!!!

goodjob by Kamsky.

Apr-09-10  laskersteinitz: Kamsky will play the loser of the Anand-Topalov match in the first round of the next Candidates tournament. He needs to stay on top of his game as much as possible. Winning tournaments like these is expected, but still quite impressive and a good omen.
Apr-09-10  laskersteinitz: A heartfelt thank you to Chessgames.com for posting this tournament!
Apr-09-10  HowDoesTheHorsieMove: A news report from the Philippines states that Kamsky edged out Robson, Stripunsky and Kudrin on tie-break points.
Apr-09-10  laskersteinitz: That's correct. It's not clear what tie-break system was used though. (http://www.philadelphiaopen.net/)

Apr-14-10  mikejaqua: Actually this looked like a rather poor performance by Kamsky. Four draws in 9 games, against opponents rated more than 100 point lower than him? Not impressive. His Rp was 2663 if I read it right. That's not gonna get him anywhere against Anand or Topa.
Apr-14-10  waustad: If it was SB, it might make a big difference where he started and when the first draws were. Robson started as the 5th rated and drew a his first game one round earlier, so Kamsky did a little better on tiebreaks by playing opponents who were ranked a little higher at several points during the tournament.
