MissScarlett: <GM Raunak Sadhwani🇮🇳 didn't show up for the first quarterfinal match against GM Alireza Firouzja🇫🇷. Firouzja now leads 1-0 by forfeit.

As Sadhwani told us both of the alarms he had set didn’t ring due to his AirPods being connected, and as a result, he couldn't show up for the game.

The second game will start at 17:00 local time, Firouzja will play with the white pieces.>

At the last minute we received information that Jan-Krzysztof Duda had withdrawn from the tournament.

We would like to thank Parham Maghsoodloo (@PMaghsoodloo ), who agreed to replace him. In the first round, Parham will face Raunak Sadhwani

We're happy we were able to replaced so many players on such short time notice. The tournament starts in 3 days, we can't wait for it!

That was very sad. I trust everything is OK with Jan-Krzysztof...

MissScarlett: Erigaisi beats MVL in the Armageddon game to win the final. Two draws in the standard games means he didn't break the 2800 barrier.
Oct-18-24  Atking: MVL did a superb tournament especially considering the opposition he met. Sindarov who is probably already stronger than the old Topalov, then Abdusatorov, Firouzja and Erigaisi but winning all these matchs by armageddon was indeed to much...
Oct-19-24  pcalugaru: So far this is a great tournament .. liking the games I see.
