  offramp: Some players hardly calculate variations at all, He thinks '12.e5 looks good' or '12.e5 can't be wrong; I get a lot of play'. If he hasn't misjudged his position then it should be able to withstand any unexpected spanners thrown at it by the opponent.

  alexrawlings: 28.. Nxf4 was a blunder but not sure I'd have seen that as black. Hard to look out for your opponent throwing away material!
Jul-31-17  billvan61: In writing about modern pawn play and pawn sacrifices to gain positional advantages, John Watson mentions this game on page 119 of Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy. He begins his analysis with Botvinnik's twelfth move, e5.
