Fusilli: <CapablancaFan: The power of the pin exploited to the fullest.> Indeed. It reminds me of the final position of Kaplan vs Bronstein, 1975.
Oct-29-11  bubuli55: Black, instead of pulling back the LSB to defense, gave up quality for a strong q-pawn, strong LSB and weak Kside light squares for White. not a guaranteed win. but kudos to GM Eugene Torre for taking the risk and converting it to a win. Nice game!
Oct-29-11  wordfunph: 33...Qf3! Torre simply handcuffed Ogaard :(
Apr-30-12  gaatab: i thing this game deserve the title:"don't move!"...:))
Apr-18-15  gabriel112000: What pun should be given to this game?
Apr-18-15  narayase: nice game
Apr-18-15  alfamikewhiskey: <what sort of name is leif?>

Common Nordic name. Most famous is Leif (Leiv) Erikson (Eiriksson), who came to Labrador/Newfoundland from Iceland in 998.

Didn't stay long in North America, though, due to trouble with the indigenous peoples, as his sister, Frøydis, reports.

Phony Benoni: A smile-inducing finish. Not technically zugawang, since Black does have the threat of eventually planting a pawn on g3. But very attractive as a Zuggernaught,
Apr-27-15  yadasampati: Dialog Fear - Our Entire Ego (0 - 1)
Apr-27-15  goodevans: Not the first time this pun has been used: Carlos Torre vs Saemisch, 1925
Apr-27-15  morfishine: Ogaard earned his final GM norm when he was 55 years old

Phony Benoni: <goodevans> So? If a pun is good, why not use it again if it's appropriate? And if it's bad, well, it's a pun. It's supposed to be bad.
Apr-27-15  pedro99: What a Leif
Apr-27-15  pedro99: O my Gaard!
Apr-27-15  kevin86: Looks like a great zugzwang finish!
Apr-27-15  goodevans: There is still room in the final position for black to screw up. For example <34.g4 Kh7?? 35.b6!>. Maybe just one more move from white was in order.
Apr-27-15  Artemio: a fine finish for Eugene,,,,first Asian GM
Apr-27-15  ahedresandro: Nice collection!
Apr-27-15  Mudphudder: Geezus. The mother of all Zugzwangs!
Dec-16-16  bubuli55: "I've been up and down. That's Leif."
Sep-11-17  Arconax: Well, the "Son of Sorrows" defense certainly caused White much sorrow in this game.
May-29-18  Toribio3: Pin is mightier than a sword!
