Mateo: <AdrianP: Rh4 for Carlsen now?> Unfortunately it does not work, as Black answers 26...Qh1 27.Kf2 Qf3. I guess Carlsen has to play 26.Bd4.
Jul-28-06  boz: Volokitin can taste it. He's got to keep his poise.

tamar: It looks over. Pretty tough to manouever when your own King has a death ray pointed at him.
Jul-28-06  pastpawn: <OhioChessFan> If White had played 24 Rf5; then after 24 ... ♗b7 25 ♕h3 gxf5 wins ; White's Q is tied to h3 because of the mate threat on g2.

OhioChessFan: Rh4? Give 2 Rooks for the Queen? Too many variations there for me to have a clue.
Jul-28-06  Bebeking: RfxP!!
Jul-28-06  AdrianP: <Tariqov> You're quite right - that's why I deleted that post soon after I wrote it...!

Mateo: <independentthinker: Carlsen now should exchange both rooks for the queen - ASAP> That's an idea but it does not work. 26.Rcc4 Qh1 27.Kf2 Rc4 28.Rc4 Qf3 winning the Bishop.

OhioChessFan: <Pastpawn> Before the Rook left f8, if gxf5, then Qg3+.
Jul-28-06  zerathul: RxP loses immediatly to Qh1+ Rf2 RxR and white can not take back the rook or Qh3+ winning the bishop and later the rook
Jul-28-06  babakova: Why not simply Rxe5 here?
Jul-28-06  Ulhumbrus: Here is an idea: 26 Kf2 Rxe5 27 Rc1xc4! Rh5 28 Rxc6 Rxh3 29 Rxc8+ Bxc8 30 Rd4! threatening Rd8+ and this threat seems to win.
Jul-28-06  Runemaster: Carlsen always makes it interesting, doesn't he?

OhioChessFan: Whew, what am I looking at? Pretend I deleted my last post. :)
Jul-28-06  independentthinker: Yes I analysed after I wrote - tactics indeed catch out white.

So now it down to if White can run his king away and get his attack going. I think it will be tough.

Jul-28-06  spirit: this position looks so much like bruzon vs carlsen of yester
Jul-28-06  KingG: White can't move the f4 Rook off the f-file, or Black will play ...Qh1+, ...Qf3+, winning.
Jul-28-06  Bebeking: RcxP!
Jul-28-06  willychess: What happens if Carlsen plays Txc4? I donĀ“t analize extensively so i ask for some help for deepper analisis
Jul-28-06  Ulhumbrus: Now one variation is 27 Rc1xc4! Rh5 28 Rxc6 Rxh3 29 Rxc8+ Bxc8 30 Rd4! threatening Rd8+ and this threat seems to win.
Jul-28-06  zerathul: now he can exchange rook for queen, but he has a lost endgame
Jul-28-06  duchamp64: Rxe5 R1xc4 Qe8 looks sufficient. ...Qf8 is available later

Mateo: The point of Black's last move is that after 27.Rcc4 Qc4 28.Rc4 Rc4 29.Qh6 he has 29...Rf5 and 30...Rf6.

TheAlchemist: If Rxc4 then Qxc4 for Volokitin
Jul-28-06  Atking: Is there a hope Rxc4 QxRc4 RxRc4 RxRc4 Qh6 (better than Qd7?)
