Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-20-07  Xaurus: I categorize this game as the "wild" kind.
Apr-20-07  slomarko: white played like a 1500 player on a bad day.
Apr-20-07  Rolfo: They know each other very well. Lie trying hard to find "novelties". Two years ago just after Magnus got his third GM norm, Lie beat him twice in a row as far as I remember..

tamar: <Rolfo> It looks like Lie was "winging it" with this sacrificial line.

Carlsen used little thinking time refuting it.

It was kind of like Lie cracking a wide serve to Roger Federer full of hope, and then watching the ball flash past him a second later up the line.

Apr-20-07  slomarko: no it was more like Lie being completely lost on move 14. with white pieces.
Apr-30-07  ChessMan94: Lie was not true to himself...
May-01-07  BlackNightmare: true lies
Jul-30-07  Tacticstudent: Wow, this is what I call refuting the Bird in 15 moves- or less.
Dec-04-07  Bobsterman3000: I can't imagine this attack working against any GM, especially a 2700+...
Dec-04-07  cotdt: Lie threw this game.
Dec-04-07  Jim Bartle: slomarko: "white played like a 1500 player on a bad day."

Here's one time I agree with you, no question.

  keypusher: A pinful game!
May-08-14  Chris321: The Sicilian Bird, well Black cannot just go to sleep when playing against the White attack,it can be dangerous for Black if White gets its way with his King S attack. Its not as violent as the Kings Gambit though. At the top level it probably will not work, but at a club level it might surprise many, just like the Kings Gambit, just put it in the right hands an see how dangerous it can be!
