Jan-06-12  drnooo: quite a spoiler, this fellow, and very fitting for this weirdest of tournaments. Somebody , much better historian than I, should use this as a template for all the other weird tournaments. Would make for interesting reading if the choices even approached this. Crazy, nothing predictable ever happened here, not once, in any round.
Jan-06-12  Namawiz: Very sweet win for vitiugov and very bitter for morozevich as he misses top spot by a whisker.

Penguincw: I was watching this game live and when Vitiugov played 64.Ra3, I had a feeling the game would end very soon.

LIFE Master AJ: Nice game! (Thanks to <Patriot> for bringing it to my attention.)
Jan-06-12  Shams: Was White's very deep Rook sack inspiration, necessity or a bit of both?
Jan-06-12  galdur: Nice job. White won by a very well calculated tempo.
Jan-06-12  Shams: I guess my question is really, really stupid, since Black is threatening mate in one. I'll rephrase: Was White's rook sack desperation or had he gone down this road seeing that his Queenside play would be enough compensation?
Jan-06-12  dumbgai: I wouldn't want to be Vitiugov the next time these two meet.
Jan-06-12  Blunderdome: Nice technique.

HeMateMe: <Shams> I would bet at this level of play, Vitiugov saw the Rooks being doubled on the h file but felt his passed pawn was enough of a counter weight.

Quite a bit of work, to finally win by getting the opposition in a K + P v. K endgame.

I am not sure even Vitiugov could answer that.

My guess would be that that White dropped the ball, only Morozevich's mistakes prevented him from winning this game.
