Honza Cervenka: 33.Ng5?? was a terrible mistake.
Feb-15-05  suenteus po 147: The threat is 33...Ne4+, so maybe 33.Ke2 would have been better instead?
Feb-15-05  aw1988: No, 33. Ke2 Rxf4

Honza Cervenka: <aw1988> 33.Ke2 Rxf4 34.gxf4 and what now? If 34...d5, then 35.Ne5 and black has nothing.

<suenteus po 147> 33.Ke2 would have been better than 33.Ng5 but in a game over the board I would be a little bit afraid of 33...d5 34.Ne5 d4. But I have analysed that position and it seems to be okay for white after 36.Nxc6 Rxe3+ 37.Kd1 Ne4 38.Ne5.

Feb-16-05  aw1988: <Honza> My apologies, Rxf4 does not work since after gxf4 Ng4 white simply plays Rd3.
Feb-22-05  suenteus po 147: <Honza Cervenka> Thank you for your analysis. At least I'm not a total patzer :) I must admit though, I didn't see the threat of 33...d5 and 34...d4, so I'm still kind of a patzer.
Feb-22-05  euripides: If 33 Re2 Black has 33...Ne4+ and either 34 Kg1 Nxg3 35 hg Rxg3+ 36 Kh2 Rxf3 37 Rxf3 Bxf3 38 Re1 Bg2 or 34 Ke1 or 34 Ke1 Nxg3 35 hg Rxg3 and I think White must give the piece back leaving Black well ahead.

33 Ke2 might be slightly more robust if 33...Ne4 34 Rd1 (other rook moves allow 34...Rxg3), though White's position looks pretty precarious.
