Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-24-03  WhoKeres: After 34. Ne5 white is winning. Keres' play in this game is unusually passive. He was not yet a GM at this time and may have been showing too much respect to the old GM, Maroczy. Its games like this that probably made Keres give up the Caro-Kann for a long time, and become an expert in 1 e4 e5 systems.
Apr-13-06  Whitehat1963: More age old Maroczy magic!

Jonathan Sarfati: Keres says in his own best game collection that his loss to the veteran showed that he still had much to learn about positional play at this stage. That Maroczy could outplay the new star at the age of 65 shows his great class. Only two years later, Keres won AVRO ahead of the best players in the world.

perfidious: Keres' objectivity regarding his play is admirable and a lesson to any player aspiring to improve.

keypusher: 33....Bd6 is fine for Black, and even 33....Qd7 is a lot better than what Keres played.

Fred, posts like that say a lot more about you than they do about your target. And what they say about you isn't good.

NM JRousselle: Amazing. The 65 year old Maroczy schools the great Paul Keres.
